Vibe passes on Escape

I think we are going to try for Vibe passes on our cruise. I have a few questions I was hoping someone will have answers for!

1. Is there a differences in chances of getting them depending on what terminal you are assigned? We have 9:30-10 arrival time to terminal B.

2. I have seen numbers are given out at guest services or headliners. Does anyone know which one? I would hate to go to the wrong place and miss out!

Thanks

It's been reported recently that Headliners is the place to go. However NCL can change that at any time.

Can't say that either terminal is better , but being the first few at either one should give you equal opportunity.

Vibe sells out quickly. We got off the Escape on Sunday and loved the Vibe, worth every Penny. We were at the port at 8:15AM and were the second couple through the check-in process for a group 1 pass in Terminal B. (The first couple arrived at 7:15AM.) When group 1 was called, everyone that wanted a pass moved to the front of the line. It was a very fast embarkation, not quite running, but close. Terminal C lets their group 2 passes go at the same time and all those that want the Vibe are on a mission. We got to Headliners and they gave out ticket numbers to each person that wanted a pass. We were 42 and 44 out of 75. Within 5 minutes, all numbers were gone.

The first cruisers that have access to passes are the early, priority boarders like those staying in the Haven. Platinums have to go with everyone else.

Here's a few things to know:

1. You can line up at both doors outside of the terminal. They open at 9AM and they bring you inside in a very orderly manner, creating 3 lines for the 3 scanners. Some people that did not get there until 9AM were front and center in the middle line.

2. Go directly to check in and after receiving your cards, go upstairs.

3. They won't let you line up at the ship entry point, because it would block the hallway to the section between the terminals where the early boarders/Haven guests hang out.

4. When you start to see the early boarders escorted to the ship, start to line up, group 1 will be next.

5. We boarded around 11:15AM.

6. After entering the ship, go down 1 flight of stairs to deck 6. Guest services will see you coming. Several crew members were pointing and saying, "Vibe that way to Headliners". They knew what the early boarders with a look of determination on their faces wanted.

Good luck if you go for it. It was the highlight of our trip never having to look for a lounge chair and the service from Ro and Ariel were excellent.

Yes, you need to be in group 1. We arrived at 8:45am doors opened at 9am. It truly is a rat race and not a great way to start a cruise. I wish NCL would have a raffle or something like that for those who want them. I found out on day 3 or 4 of the cruise some SOB in the vibe club just happened to bring his cane to check in so he would be able to board first, guy never needed it.

OK another question or two. When we filled out our forms the earliest we could arrive at pier was 9:30-10 am. It says on our edocs that anyone that arrives before their assigned time will be asked to come back at the appropriate time. So are there people with 9 am pier arrival times? Our forms also say boarding starts at 12 noon. Is this later so maybe arrival times to the pier are later? Just trying to get my ducks in a row. Trying to decide if this "race" is worth the aggravation!

Ours were for the same time, don't worry about it. I don't think the people working the door even read that part. They just compared our names on the E Docs to our passports

If you watched my video I think its really worth it, especially with 2 sea days in a row

Your video looks awesome. I just don't want to get my hopes up and then be disappointed!!

A few more questions. This is our first cruise so I am new to everything.

1. You said go down 1 flight of stairs. Are they hard to find? Or are they right when you get on?

2. If we arrive about 845 we wait outside the terminal? If we take a cab will they drop us off where we need to be or will we be lost looking for the right place to get in line?

When you arrive (taxi, Uber, friend, etc.) have them drop you off at the terminal listed on your documents which will be either B or C. It will be very busy with cruisers getting off the ship. You will need to find a porter to take your bags that won't fit through the scanners. Most were busy helping those getting off the ship, but we found one who took our bag between the two terminals very quickly.

If nobody is in line, wait at one of the 2 entry doors into the building.

Doors open at 9AM and the scanners at 9:30AM. They did not check the time on our docs.

Once you are boarding, it is very easy to find. You will flow into an entry way near a stairwell. Go down a flight. Just say, "vibe passes?" and a number of crew members will point the way if they aren't already directing you. They know what the early boarders want.

Each person in your party must be present. One number per person until they are all gone. They were gone within 5 minutes. Only 75 passes, not 400.

There were a couple of group 3 and 5 that were on the tail of group 1 and made it.

Some NCL rep at a travel show told me they sell 400 passes and if I am onboard by noon, I'd be fine to get them. Of course he also told me that 15 of the 25 restaurants board are complimentary......

400? LOL

Another clueless NCL rep

I was at the VIBE last week. We saw that they sell day passe for the Tortola port day. Ro told me after I saw different colour wristbands.

Interesting, never knew they did that. We got back on the ship in Tortola around 2pm and headed up to Vibe, it was almost empty the rest of the day.

Has anyone/many people purchased Vibe passes that are in the Haven ? Preface by saying that I love children, however reading more than one post of SOME unruly, unescorted children in an area as small as the Haven, I am wondering if it might not be a bad option to purchase a Vibe pass. Yes I know you run into ones share of many obnoxious adults also, just wondering. I also feel as if I would be greedy taking a pair of the very limited Vibe passes. I have read that those passes can be obtained through the Haven Concierge. Thanks Gerry.

I'm having the same mental dilemma - I don't want to be greedy - but I've read the posts about the kids also. AND I'm afraid my DW may think The Haven is 'boring' - sign me up for boring.

From what I've read - with the early embarkation you get with "The Haven" it is much more likely that you could get the Vibe pass.

We only saw 2 day passes our entire trip and that was on a port day. Ro knew nothing about day passes. To be entirely honest, I'm not sure the people who 'had' them were legit. They were nice enough people but seemed generally sketchy. They had been in Vibe before on a previous cruise. After talking to them a few of us were fairly certain they just recycled old wristbands from a previous trip and piggybacked off someone else entering.

We had a handful of Haven guests in Vibe with us. They all said the 'private' Haven sundeck was too crowded and liked having the bar in Vibe. All of them secured their passes through the concierge but they did say the concierge tried to talk them out of getting them.

The other thing that irked us was that the pre-boarding people that needed assistance were allowed on with their entire group in tow. So just because grandma has a cane, the other 14 people on the reservation get to pre-board too. I totally understand a person or two to assist, but the entire group???

We got Vibe passes in Headliners on 3/5. We were in the middle of the pack of boarding group 1.

We arrived at the port at 9:15 AM before security opened.

I recommend the Latitudes line over CAS for check in.

The two terminals (B and C) merge and board at the same time.

We boarded after Haven and handicapped.

We got 41 and 42. I think they said around 30 were Haven.

Even in the Vibe people would chair hog but there were enough loungers for everyone. The people we met in the Vibe were great both the staff and the pass-holders.

They have changed it to Headliners now, but there is no guarantee they won't change it again. I was on the Escape in January, was in Group 1, and rushed to guest services where the passes were being sold at that time, and they were sold out. I heard a lot of different reasons why and I'm still not sure what the truth is, but I can tell you that you can't be sure you will get a pass. I've been successful two times in getting a pass, once on the Epic, where it's called Posh, and once on the Getaway. The Vibe is kind of hit or miss and a great deal of how nice it is depends on the group of people who get passes. It can be great fun and it can be dull as dishwater. Frankly, I got so aggravated by the whole thing on the Escape that I've decided on my next cruise to just get a spa pass and head to Spice when I want to get some sun. Good luck and have a great time regardless! :)

Latitudes line refers to different queues for different level Latitudes members - if this is your first cruise with NCL, then this doesn't apply to you.

CAS is Casinos At Sea, NCL's casino operations - but again you'd know about this if you were booked through them and eligble to use a separate queue.

I've been saying it from our first cruise on the BA, they need a better way of selling the passes. Its not a fun way to start a cruise racing to be one of 75 to get a vibe pass. Personally I think they should be sold online, put your name in if you want them and pay online.
