Wine question

We have seen some good prices in Florida on wine we like. Would we be wrong in assuming that even with a $15 corkage fee added to a price of wine under $15 in a store (say total $23 -$30), it would still be a better price than the same/near same thing on board? We are new to Princess and don't know the average pricing of wines.

 

Example... in Canada F.............t sparkling wine is perhaps $16; in Orlando I have seen it in Walmart for $11 and on sale for $7. On board Celebrity its equivalent would be around $42+, so paying a $15 corkage fee is a no-brainer. But on Celebity a corkage fee is $25 which could deter bringing extra on board.

We are doing a B2B from Vancouver to Whittier and back in May. Wondering if we can bring 4 bottles of champagne in Vancouver (showing our Whittier to Vancouver boarding pass to verify the b2b claim) since it could be difficult to find what we like in Whittier.

 

We have brought on four bottles on a B2B a few times. Each time we stopped at the liquor table. Once we were allowed to take them on board once we showed our boarding passes for both cruises, once they just checked a list and saw we were doing a B2B and let us carry the wine on board and once they picked up the extra bottles, told us they would be delivered at the beginning of the next cruise but, they were delivered the next day to our room. In any event you should be able to bring four bottles without charge.

Astro Flyer, thank you! This was a great. We could save from $5+-$18+ on wines we would normally purchase... including the 15% gratuity and the $15 corkage fee. Not huge money, I know, but still it is nice to be aware.

You're welcome...your fellow Canadian 'steelers36' created a useful tool when deciding whether to go shopping to bring wine onboard or to purchase it on the ship.

 

I neglected to post that the prices he used are from Total Wine in Ft. Lauderdale.
