You'll want to move around until you find the best signal. A good signal metering app is helpful, unless your computer's wifi client already has one. Depending on the room we've been in, I've had good luck at a desk by the window, over by the door, or at the dressing table in a Neptune Suite. I've also had the misfortune to never get a good signal in some rooms we've had. In those cases, I take my stuff to the Neptune Lounge (which usually has an access point) or to the Explorations Cafe, which always has an AP or two. If you are are unlucky with room location, you're much better off taking your laptop and moving to where the performance is better. The latency and extra hops can really hurt your throughput.

there are several 'free' apps for iphone and android that will show wifi signal strength, channel, name, etc. They don't use phone minutes, they are receive-only apps. I would use one of them first, to see the optimal wireless coverage in and around your cabin.
