shrimpboat123 Posted March 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2016 WiFi is available throughout the ship. Sometimes the signal in your room may be weak, but if you move around or open the room door, you should be OK. The WiFi antennas are outside the rooms at various locations in the hall. Rare POA1 Posted March 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2016 You'll want to move around until you find the best signal. A good signal metering app is helpful, unless your computer's wifi client already has one. Depending on the room we've been in, I've had good luck at a desk by the window, over by the door, or at the dressing table in a Neptune Suite. I've also had the misfortune to never get a good signal in some rooms we've had. In those cases, I take my stuff to the Neptune Lounge (which usually has an access point) or to the Explorations Cafe, which always has an AP or two. If you are are unlucky with room location, you're much better off taking your laptop and moving to where the performance is better. The latency and extra hops can really hurt your throughput. xlxo Posted March 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2016 Also... if you find it does not work.... consider using the wifi between 1am and 7am. With less people awake.... the wifi works much faster.
CaveDiving Posted March 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2016 In my experience, leaving the cabin door open has always permitted receiving a relatively strong signal with no problem. Scott & Karen
janmcn Posted March 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 14, 2016 To check how fast the wifi is, try the "free" sites (HAL, NY Times) and see how they load...if quickly you are good to go. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
cruiser64093 Posted March 14, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2016 there are several 'free' apps for iphone and android that will show wifi signal strength, channel, name, etc. They don't use phone minutes, they are receive-only apps. I would use one of them first, to see the optimal wireless coverage in and around your cabin.
