Duty Free at Airport on way out?

Flying to Rome out of ORD tonight. Will we have access to duty free on the way out or in our stopover in Paris? Need to figure out if we need to stop and buy cocktail makings for our hotel stay before the airport.

You should have access to a duty free shop at ORD.

 

There won't be real "duty free" as such in Paris, as there is no duty-free concession for sales on flights within the EU. There may well be duty free shops in the section of CDG where you're flying from. However, they may or may not sell you alcohol or tobacco depending on their policies, or they may only sell you those things from a limited range of products. The price may be the same as for a duty-free sale, or it may be a higher price. This is because whatever they sell you has to be sold duty-paid and tax-paid because your flight is within the EU.

 

The upside is that if they will sell to you, there's likely to be no limit on how much you can buy, except for what you can carry and what your airline will allow you to take on board. As duty-paid and tax-paid goods, you can buy as much as you like just as if you were in a normal shop.

 

I once saw litre bottles of Bombay Sapphire in Milan for the equivalent of £8 - and they would sell it even though I was flying to London. There was a lot of clanking on that flight. :D
