No but you can go to a bar and get a few drinks before you leave and pour them into a wide mouth water bottle and take them to shore. The is no rule about bring booze off the ship.

They really need to change that since you can use your drink package on RC's private islands.

I was surprised to learn that your drink package doesn't work on HMC. To me that is the best private island in the Bahamas. They have you there where you really have no other place to go but you have to buy your own drinks.

Cheers does not work for any bar purchases at HMC, even soda and water you will need to pay for. They say it's because the "computers won't link up in real time", but others lines have found a way to make it work. It's simply a money grab by Carnival, they have you on the island with no locals walking around selling $2/3 beers, your kind of trapped unless you hold off until you get back on board.

Surprising they have not allowed this. Best thing to do is get some drinks before you leave the ship and bring with you.

Other lines don't have a daily limit to their drink packages so no real time "link up" is necessary. Nor does one exist. That's how other lines make it work. It has nothing to do with superior technology.

 

Daily bar and liquor sales and inventory can be downloaded onto a flashdrive and updated on the ship at the end of a day.

 

Carnival's Cheers is a program with a 15 drink a day limit. A real time HMC to Ship "link up" would be necessary to keep track of individual drink purchases and since there is no such system in place for Carnival or the other lines, what they say is correct.

I have never purchased Cheers but in 2012 on the Ecstasy, folks were allowed to use Cheers at Half Moon Cay.

May, 2013 on Carnival Victory we did in fact have cheers that cruise and yes we were able to use it on HMC. Shortly after that cruise I did read on cruise critic and on CCL site that it would no longer be used on HMC.

 

Not sure I buy the explanation of inability to sync with their system. Our sail and sign printout showed the purchases, time was off, but number of drinks was accurate. I imagine they updated their system once we got back on the ship. Also, if that were truly the case, why not at least let passengers with Cheers use it for the unlimited non-alcoholic drinks? Personally, I think it's more of a case of not being able to watch for sharing. Just saying...
