Daytona Speedway tours

Our ship will be docking in Port Canaveral, arriving at 1:00 PM. I would like to drive up to Daytona Speedway to take a tour. I realize it's about an hours drive. The afternoon All Access tours (90 minute tour) are at 2:00 & 3:00. I was told by the customer service rep that I spoke w/ at Daytona Speedway tours, that they usually sell out about 40 minutes ahead. I'd like to try to get to the 3:00 PM tour.

They also have a 30 minute tour at 3:30 & 4:00 (although we'd really rather take the 90 minute tour...but leave this lesser one as a back up plan).

1) Any suggestions on getting off our ship (NCL Breakaway), getting a car rental (I'm leaning towards Enterprise as I understand that the Enterprise-National-Alamo building is closest to terminals) and getting there ASAP? (without driving like a NASCAR driver? ;) )

2) And have you done this tour? Do you know how soon they sell out?

Thanks!!

The only way you will make it to Daytona by 2:20pm is to be on the road by 1:10pm and thats cutting it close. Daytona is 70 miles from P.C. Stopped by back in February, the whole speedway has had a complete makeover. Good luck, hope you get tickets.

Thanks Skrufy, I talked w/ dh (it was going to be a surprise, but where the timing was so iffy--I wanted to get his thoughts) and he doesn't want to race down there an maybe only get the 30 minute tour....so it will have to wait until another time. It's been 25 years since we first toured Daytona Speedway. I guess it can wait a little longer. ;)
