flying to Oceana

Can anyone who has done a fly cruise tell me approximately what time you would fly out to join Oceana. We like the look of the cruise, but the logistics of flying out of Gatwick and coming back into Southampton are a nightmare as we live in Devon.

Do you need to sail back into Southampton? The fly cruises we have done have departed from and flown back to the same airport. We are on the Oceana in May and are flying out from Gatwick and back again. We have done the same on our cruise to the Caribbean (out from Gatwick and back from Barbados) and eastern Med (out from Gatwick and back from Crete).

Have a look at doing a one way care hire. Enterprise have some good rates and they have a depot just outside gate 8. They will pick you up at the terminal. Remember you don't have any parking charges if you do this.

Hi, we travel from Manchester and last year we arrived at Oceana mid day - not sure what time we left. This year coming we are leaving at 06.45h from Manchester so will stay at the airport the night before (and we only live in Stoke on Trent, so about 30 miles from the airport).

Re your issue --- have no idea ---- sorry :)

Jean, we did this cruise last year but the other way round. They offered us a coach from Gatwick to the ship, so presumably it works the other way round.

In the event we declined the coach and got a train to Southampton for a very reasonable price (£11 each from Oxford) by booking via The Trainline in advance. It worked so well for us that we went by train again in November on a Southampton round trip to the Canaries. You have to specify exactly what train you are getting so I paid £4 for insurance in case the ship was late back and we had to get a later train.

Worth looking into, but not sure if it would be practicable from Devon.
