It's pretty much been a day at the pool for us. The kids have done the slides a bunch and the ropes course once. Not sure they will do that again! Both boys said it was terrifying.

 

The Mr. Sexy Legs contest was funny, and a little X-rated. Lap dances for the women judges [emoji15]. We are now waiting to play Deal or No Deal. Oh and I forgot to mention that I teamed up with a young couple last night for Name That Tune Trivia at The District and we won! Yay!!

Some answers...

 

Million Dollar Quartet is already gone. Moving to the Getaway.

 

Water is like $3 for a little bottle, $5 for a big one.

 

Not sure about signing slips without the UBP but I'll keep an eye out.

 

Corkage fee is $15/bottle.

We will be sailing the Escape soon and we have the UBP. Do you know if the bars on board will serve a "double pour" when ordering a glass of wine? We recently sailed on the Getaway with the UBP and had no problem at all getting "two glasses in one." We love our red wines and almost always order a second glass anyway. Thanks in advance.

Kevin and Patrick went on the ropes course again. I was saved by the fact that my Tevas don't cover my heels. Phew. I just about had a heart attack watching them do the zip lines so I might actually die when I do it tomorrow.

Dinner tonight was Teppanyaki and it was amazing food. Our chef was funny too but that seemed to be hit or miss around the restaurant.

 

 

The boys (all three of them!) are swimming now. I'm hanging out at the atrium bar but "Piano melodies with Darren" might be chasing me off to somewhere more, um, exciting?

This is good to know! So you essentially need sneakers to do the ropes course.

You need shoes that fully enclose both the toes and heel. One of my kids wore Keanes (not sure about the spelling) and the other had Tevas. Both enclose the toe and heel but on the sides there are the open slits. Those were fine. I wore boat shoes (aka docksiders or deck shoes), those brown leathery shoes with rubber bottoms and tied them very tight.

 

Basically they just don't want anyone wearing shoes that might possibly fall off.

 

Also, they don't want anything in your pockets, beyond small things like your key card, sanitiser, chap stick, etc. I always wanted to bring a book to read while waiting in line, and they wouldn't let me bring it up. You also can't bring a small camera or cell phone to take pictures, which was disappointing, but understandable. You are allowed to bring a Go Pro which is on a headband. I saw one lady go up with it on her head but immediately take it off and hold it to take pictures of her kids.

As a result, many people showed up with closed-toed shoes that had open heels. Today, you will STILL find people posting that closed-toed shoes are required. It seems no one wants to mention that completely enclosed shoes are what is really required.

Uh oh... The last time we heard from our live poster, she was on a mission to find out if double wine pours were possible. Considering that was a little over 14 hours ago, I guess the assumed answer is "yes". :)

5 days for us, too! You are on the April 9th sailing?? Can hardly wait. This will be our kids' first cruise and they are beyond excited. My daughter really wants to try the ropes course so we'll be sure to bring her tennis shoes.

For the ropes course, in addition to closed toe and heel shoes, be aware that you also need 1) shirts with sleeves (don't want the harness chafing against your bare skin) and 2) dry clothes (they don't want the harness wringing out someone's wet swimsuit and dripping on people below). I saw more than a few people turned away for one or both of these. No worries though, whoever is in line with you can just hold the place in line until you go get the appropriate shoes/clothes.

Ropes course 1, Nikki 0. I did not farther than the first pillar, which I hugged until I finally went back down the stairs and got unhooked. I will try again tomorrow in port.

The double pour is totally allowed. They call it a long pour and it costs $11.70. That makes it included in the UBP. As for liqour, it always felt like they poured doubles. Always.

We grabbed a snack at O'Shee's pre dinner, which was yummy.

 

 

Dinner at Food Republic. It was awesome. The only thing we didn't care for was the Tuna Pizza. Way heavy handed with garlic. But otherwise fantastic!! I had the Revolutionary Road to drink and it was different but great!

 

 

Now for more of this guy...and the championship game of course!

Yes, we are! This is our daughter's first cruise as well. Also, it's the first big trip for her, first plane ride, etc. She's 7, almost 8 and is so excited!
