The Escape Live 4/2!!

Recommended Posts

The double pour is totally allowed. They call it a long pour and it costs $11.70. That makes it included in the UBP. As for liqour, it always felt like they poured doubles. Always.

I'm not sure if that qualifies as a "double pour". On the BA, we were served double pours (without asking) in the MDRs, and the receipts showed 2 x single glass prices, which totaled more than the drink limit at the time. It was a win/win, as it saved time for both us and the servers.

I don't recall if we ever encountered similar on the Escape - where my focus was more on the great beers.

On land today - St. Thomas. It's a beautiful blue sky kind of day and we are off to snorkel on the Castaway excursion. It took a force of will to get all of us out of bed and to breakfast by 7:45. But super easy leaving the ship at 8:10...

Ropes course 1, Nikki 0. I did not farther than the first pillar, which I hugged until I finally went back down the stairs and got unhooked. I will try again tomorrow in port.

That is exactly how I did the course. You easily get to that first platform, then from there, it's a decision whether or not to face certain death one of 3 ways, or to retreat. I retreated, grabbed a frozen cocktail, and had no regrets.

Enjoying your travels. Quick question, I leave on the 16th, how has the temperature been? Just curious if I need to prepare for colder temps in the morning and night or if a light jacket will be enough. Thanks!

Are you doing the NCL excursion with Castaway Girl going to the Turtles and Shipwreck? If so, please post everything about it as we are doing this also!!

5 days for us, too! You are on the April 9th sailing?? Can hardly wait. This will be our kids' first cruise and they are beyond excited. My daughter really wants to try the ropes course so we'll be sure to bring her tennis shoes.

Thank you for the live report, Gimmiethebeach. We are getting so close I love to hear all these live reports from "my" boat. ;)

Have fun nothing like a first cruise. Just a little tip: water slides, pools and ropes course are usually open on embarkation day. Since most people don't bring suites or sunblock they spend the time eating and exploring the ship and their rooms. Great time to enjoy the slides, pools and ropes course after lunch and before muster.

Yes we did and it was lots of fun. I really liked how the catamaran was waiting for us right off the bow of the ship - no taxi or anything to take first. We motored out to Buck Island and snorkeled for about an hour over a shipwreck. Saw some cool fish and hundreds of tiny jellyfish all around the surface. They were about the size of a dime and super cute. When we were done we sailed back to the pier.

Going to try it in port today. I'll let you know who wins.

Is there an age or height requirement to do the ropes course? Same question for the water slides. I'm wondering if my kids will be old enough to do the course & slides.

Thanks in advance

For the Ropes Course, minimum height is 48 inches. If your child is less than 48 inches, they will only be allowed to do the "little kids" ropes course, which is about two feet off the ground.

Waterslides: For the free fall drops slides, you have to be 48 inches and 100 pounds. Can't recall if there are height restrictions on the inner tube slide.

Holy wow, my new favorite drink. Painkiller.

I better be careful, I'm supposed to do the ropes course when it opens at 4:30 [emoji16].

We did the tube slide and it's really fun. However, Aqua racer 1, Nikki 0. Not sure if I'll be able to master the whole floor dropping out from under you thing.

What blackwing said. [emoji6] I'll find out about the tube slide. There is also a yellow slide that is just kind of a normal twisty slide. I'll check on that one too.

I wish I could do the little kid ropes course. Might actually finish that one!

Following your posts/review on the Escape. That drink looks great! Can't wait for my Norwegian cruise in January! It will be our first NCL cruise, so we will be new to Freestyle Cruising. I'd like to hear how that works out, not using set dinner times (what we are used to). We will be on the Getaway, but I love following all ships for future reference.

I love following these live cruise threads.

One question: how much is Bingo? We aren't casino types and played bingo all the time on our Carnival cruise in December.

Thank you.
