NOLA hotel with no car

We are spending three nights in New Orleans the end of August before our Triumph cruise. We will not have a car and are considering three hotels - Hampton Inn on Carondelet; Embassy Suites on Julia Street; and Country Inn and Suites on Magazine Street. It looks like all three are close to trolley stops and all have breakfast. The Hampton Inn and Country Inn are ranked higher than the Embassy Suites.

Which would you choose and why?

Also need suggestions for transportation from the airport to the hotel; from the hotel to the ship; and from the ship back to the airport. We are four people (two couples) traveling.

Thank you for your help.

Of the 3 hotels you are looking at...

Hampton Inn Carondolet is in the CBD (Central Business district). its situated just a couple blocks from the French Quarter. It is a very ice property and there is ample dining in every direction

Embassy Suites is in the Warehouse District. It is a huge, very nice, recently remodeled property. In my opinion, the best place to stay in New Orleans is in the Warehouse District, mainly because it is quieter than the CBD and French Quarter.

I dont know that much about Country Inn on Magazine, its in the CBD not far at all from the Hampton Inn, but a couple blocks closer to the river.

My personal Recommendation: Residence Inn on St Joseph St.. They have a wing that is 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with a small kitchen. They have a resort pool setup and are close to a dozen 4 star restaurants. You are also just a couple blocks from the St. Charles Street car line ($3 all day pass for all street cars and busses). and you can see the beautiful garden district as well as the French Quarter.

or

Hotel Indigo on St Charles. Its almost a boutique style hotel, very hip-n-trendy. It is directly on the streetcar line and so you can get anywhere you want to go for $3 a day/each. It is quiet at night and the rooms are super nice with guge marble bathrooms with huge walk-in showers.

Transportation from the airport by cab will be $32 each way for up to 4 passengers. Transportation to the cruise ship terminal should be less than $10 for all of you from any of these properties.

**Bonus** Restaurant recommendations. You cant go wrong with these.

Atchafalaya or Clancey's in the garden district.

GW Finns or Restaurant Revolution on Bienville in the French Quarter.

Lunch in the Warehouse District...Cochon Butcher!!!

Lok all of them up on Yelp or Tripadvisor.
