Quick Carnival Glory question

Going on our 5th cruise in May with carnival. So far we've sailed on the Fantasy (which didn't have in room refrigerators) and on the Breeze (which did have refrigerators). This cruise will be on Glory and was wondering if it also had refrigerators in the rooms. We cruise interior since we're never in the room and was just checking to be prepared. Thank y'all.

Our interior cabin on the Glory in December had the mini refrig.

All rooms on Conquest class ships have the minibars.

Fridge is housed inside a faux-wood cabinet.

but the cabinet restricts air-flow to the heat-exchange unit!

 

Fridge will work considerably cooler if you leave the cabinet-door ajar.

The cabinet door -not the fridge door.

 

This allows the hot air generated, to escape

so the heat-exchange unit(fridge) can work more efficiently.

I agree with this. We had our minibar emptied out so that we could use it as a fridge to put our waters in (this was on the Dream). I remember reading this little tip here on Cruise Critic, so I did it. Although it was frustrating that our steward would occasionally shut the door, lol. But anyway, it did work. Our waters were nice and cold when we left the cabinet door open. Perhaps for future ships, they should consider a design where they not only get rid of the minibars and just have a small fridge instead, but they place them in such a way that they are not closed inside a cabinet.

I agree with this.

LOL I even went so far as to explain this to our cabin steward

so s/he would understand why 'these weird ppl' would always

leave the cabinet door open, as he found it when s/he came in! :D

 

Not sure s/he ever fully understood

the heat-exchange bit that fridge and air-con units operate with (few ppl do)

but at least it explained our "strange" actions? I hope..

 

I now leave the cabinet door open while we're in the cabin

and every time we left the cabin -and throughout the night too!

 

Many cruisers gripe that these little fridges "don't work well"

and neither would you if you had a hot job to do

while locked up in a cupboard with minimal air circulation to help cool ya!
