Solstice Suite Life

Have just returned from and 8 night South Pacific cruise on Solstice. Fabulous.

It was our second Solstice cruise in a suite. Our Celebrity Suite 1615 was spacious and comfortable, balcony a perfect location to enjoy the warm sea days. Our butler and room attendants were excellent - we are low maintainance but still appreciate their ability and willingness to deal with any requests or issues we might have and their unobtrusive presence.

Luminae was perfect for us. We loved the food and loved the Luminae team. The quality of both service and food exceeded our expectations ( having been jaded by the MDR on our last cruise on Millie). Michaels Club was still a nice place to go but very quiet - so much potential to create a club atmosphere in there but it just did not happen.

The ship was full, the weather great so the pool decks were very busy.

Overall a great trip away.

Glad you had a great cruise, we were on the previous one.

Like you we found Michael's quieter than usual, still enjoyable though...However, a fellow cruiser doing some b2b cruises said on the cruise prior to ours Michael's had been so full it was impossible pre dinner to get in! I guess some of it will depend on how many suite guests have drinks packages...

We are booked on the Solstice for January 2017 ... just upped from a Sky Suite to a Celebrity Suite GTY (still on the W/L for a Royal.)

Are nightly reservations required in Luminae? Does one book those in advance of sailing, or once onboard? Also, we are assigned to early seating in the MDR ... will our table stay available for the entire cruise in case we wish to try the MDR?

Our recent cruises have been on Regent and NCL (in Haven suites) so I'm not familiar with Celebrity's suite scenario. Haven't sailed with them for several years.

Many thanks and sounds like you had a wonderful cruise!

Forget the MDR booking, it does not exist! You simply have to click the button to complete the booking. Your assigned dining area is Luminae. If you do wish to dine in the MDR your butler will arrange a table for you but it will be in the upstairs anytime dining area.

You do not need to book for Luminae, but you can if you do have a preferred dining time. Rarely any wait for a table unless you want to wait for a window one to be free. If you do like a set time your butler will sort it.

RS does have the benefit of free speciality dining, we did really enjoy this on Solstice. You are best booking these meals via your butler early in your cruise (you can then modify if you change your mind), On our cruise some guests were struggling towards the end of the cruise to make bookings, especially for Murano's.

Good luck with your W/L for a RS!
