NCL's CAS-change to Golden benefits?

Has anyone just returned from a cruise that knows what the changes to Tier Level benefits are? Their new players club year would have just started on April 1st and I had heard from someone in my CET group that the Spa credit for Golden has dropped from 150 to 125. Any other changes announced yet?

The email I got today said I get $125 in spa credit, so I can confirm that change. It also says $100 Food & Beverage Credit and Premium Drink Card. I am not seeing anything else in the email. Makes me wonder about the convenience fee for charging against my room....I sail at the end of May, so I guess worst case I figure out then.....

I sail at the end of April and havent gotten any email. Was your email related to your specific cruise, or did it appear to be a more general mailing?

I also received the same email today. I called and confirmed we still get convenience fee waived for golden status.

That's good to hear! I hate to carry too much cash when we travel. Found it strange they would lower the spa credit by $25 and was worried they were cutting back on other things....and after all we played to reach that status:eek:

We returned from the Breakaway on April 3rd and I was surprised that the spa credit was only $125 but it was still enough for a facial. The $100 food and beverage credit worked better than comped dinner in a specialty restaurant for us because we were able to buy a couple of good bottles of wine. We charged some of our play in the casino to our room and the convenience fee did come off on our final bill. Also, on previous cruises, we had received some treats during the week such as chocolate covered strawberries, small plates of hors d'oeuvres, bowls of fruit and chocolates on a plate, but this cruise - nothing.

I haven't heard of Seabucks...maybe it's a previous way of comping charges off your bill/statement? They (casino hosts) do review your bill for compable deductions based on your playing during the cruise.

Casino Drink card

In addition to my previous post, it's been reported here that if you book using your TR card, NCL gives you a drink card that allows you "free" drinks in the casino.( I did experience this card, but was not due to a CET discount) The drinks they give you with a "starter" tier card are "bottom of the barrel" liquors and swill wine....JMO. The plus is you get bottled water and energy drinks, which are not included in a beverage package.

Your CET status gets you discounts on cabins, and a casino drink card (good for only in the casino on basic drinks) but that is where it ends. Tier points & reward credits are not interchangeable and do not count towards the other status (CET or CAS)

Safe sailing

It looked like it was the general, you qualified for the Golden Tier for this year email. I am booked at the end of May, but it made no reference to my upcoming date.

I got my email telling me I had qualified for Golden Tier after I started this thread. It did say spa credit was $125 and food/beverage credit for $100 but it didn't mention the waiving of convenience fees. Thanks to jwatford for calling and verifying that the fee is still waived for Golden status. One thing we enjoyed about the food credit is that it doesn't have to be used all at once. In other words, was able to go to Cagneys plus have a nice lunch at Food Republic on the Escape.

Can also be used for drinks - if you don't have the UBP.

Is CAS and Total rewards the same?

Can Play be combined between the 2???

No, TR is the Caesars Entertainment players' club. There is a marketing partnership between them, but your tier status and/or reward credits do not transfer. You can get a discount on NCL based on your TR status (Diamond= 20% off, can't remember the exact discount of the other levels).

You might also occasionally receive a voucher offer for an NCL cruise from TR. That's how we started cruising NCL a few years ago, when my boyfriend got a voucher from the AC casinos. Those offers seem to be coming less frequently these days, even though his play in AC has increased. We did that a couple of times, then last summer used his Diamond discount, and after our cruise last summer, we ended up qualifying for a comp this summer through CAS.
