SteerageJoe Posted April 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) What a sight this morning! No cruise ships at daybreak but many people are showing up to watch SpaceX unload Falcon 9 from droneship "Of Course I Still Love You". It is docked right across from Rustys - see port layout here. SteerageJoe Posted April 14, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) No, Marmac 304 is not a name - it is the model number of the barge! Full story here. Edited April 14, 2016 by SteerageJoe

I've looked it up tonight and I am not convinced. Marmac 304 is its registered name. They have to place it's name on the aft.

Correct, because it is leased by SpaceX and not owned as far as I can tell. So the owner is still the company who built the barge and they happen to use model numbers for registration - Marmac 300, 301, 302, etc. The name "Of Course I Still Love You" is painted on the deck and not on the hull, unfortunately. Not easy to photograph!

I imagine that was part of the leasing conversation - SpaceX can upgrade the barge any way they like but do not cover or hide the registration, a) for mariner laws and b) so the world can see who manufactured the hull!
