Rare Lois R Posted April 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2016 I stayed at The Banks Mansion and it was really awesome:).....I would stay there again and would definitely recommend it. Staff are terrific......the lobby is like a living room with a fire place.... very lovely. Bed very comfortable and the hotel is in a great location too. Near a big flower market;).....I know many folks have their own favorites and this gets a big thumbs up from me. Oh, the breakfast (included) is really good:D

happy 2 b cruising Posted April 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2016 Hi Ine:)....thanks for all your help! Glad you enjoyed your stay. How was the security at the airport? We are leaving round trip out of Amsterdam next month on our cruise. We have a early departure flight after our cruise is over ( we do not self embark, to much luggage), are there plenty of cabs around 7:00 a.m. and are there long slow lines going through security? Appreciate any information you can give me thank-you

I was on a River Cruise with AMA and my bus was waiting for me;) To be totally honest with you, I didn't look to see the cab situation but I know other folks were off the ship before me so being early should not have a negative impact. I was in the 8:15 group. Once in the airport? You check your large bags and there are 2 sets of security lines to go through. I don't know if there was a larger presence because it was my first time in AMS....it went pretty smooth to me.

Two more questions, exactly where do you drop off the large luggage? Does the drop off point occur before you go on the security lines? Trying to figure out the logistics because of our early flight. Appreciate your help :)

Appreciate your help :) Hi, when you go the airport just like here at home, you will go to the counter and give them whatever large bags you are checking......yes, you have to give them the large bags before you go through security. You will take your carry on's with you through security. Edited April 18, 2016 by Lois R

Do you recall how many Euros to rent the luggage carts to move your luggage from the taxi to the check-in counter was? Want to be prepared :) Edited April 19, 2016 by happy 2 b cruising

Want to be prepared :) Luggage carts are free at Amsterdam airport and are situated at the middle curb. Cab will drop you off right in front of the right entrance door if you tell him what airline you fly, just a short walk to checkin counter then. You need to cross the street to get a cart. Have a look at the map of the airport to get familiar http://www.schiphol.nl/Travellers/AtSchiphol.htm
