For 2017 Cunard is getting away from these 2 night "Short Break" Southampton-Hamburg and Hamburg-Southampton segments. On the plus side about one third of the passengers extending on to a transatlantic were German who might not otherwise have sailed if they had to fly in or out of Southampton. On the minus side those sailing on just the 2-night segments were the backpack and jeans crowd. (Based on some posts and opinions here I decided to avoid any sailing that would attract that clientele.) Perhaps many others also felt the same way and it wasn't profitable for Cunard's reputation or bottom line.

When they did make these runs up to Hamburg is was possible for me to sail EB, spend four days in London, and catch the WB home. But that math doesn't work anymore.

There are some 2 night "Hamburg Short Breaks" from/to Hamburg in 2017, namely:

19th-21st August - Southampton to Hamburg

29th-31st August - Hamburg to Southampton

27th-29th October - Southampton to Hamburg

3rd-5th November - Hamburg to Southampton

but, they are part of longer cruises to the fjords, and not the 4 day ones you refer to.

I was interested in this itinerary when first announced as due to my job cannot travel during the summer when this sort of cruise typically operates.

After two days it was removed from the website, have not seen it offered since.

Is it available again for booking or is it a charter or something else?

foodsvcmgr, I don't know where your booking would be made, but the information in post #2 was from a USA on-line travel agent (an advertiser on this site), so presumably it can be booked in the US. Also Germany. Since Ray had the same info, I guess it can also be booked in the UK? <---not sure, ask Ray :)

I should have added that these two day cruises are on sale on the UK website but maybe not in the US?

I have: 27th October - 5th November 2017 – Southampton, Hamburg, Stavanger, Oslo, Hamburg, Southampton – 9 nights

Just checked the UK TA website I got it from and it is till there and the cruise number is M739D. But when you put this number into Cunard's website, it says

"M739D is no longer available on this website".
