Leaving on the Sky 06/13/16. We are staying at the Chesterfield hotel in South Beach pre cruise but I am considering staying in Miami 3 days post cruise. This will be a first for us and I cannot decide where to stay. I have looked at multiple options but cannot decide. I am 31 and my husband is 33, we enjoy having fun and having multiple activity options like beach volleyball, live entertainment, and beach lounges; I am also looking for a spa. I don't know a lot about different areas of Miami Beach so I guess that's why it's hard to decide. So many options!!! We are looking for something no more than $190-$200 a night. It's also been hard to factor in the resort fees and some of the deposits these hotels are asking for. I believe I saw $100 a night for a deposit...That seems a bit extreme, or it may be normal...again I'm not sure. We have stayed at the Chesterfield before and not sure if we want to stay there post cruise, the rooms are a bit small for the number days we plan to stay post cruise.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Yes, definitely go back to South Beach post cruise. Any other parts of Miami or Fort Lauderdale are just going to be a letdown.

In your price range all hotel rooms are going to be small.

Fortunately your dates are off peak so you may be able to get one of the larger resorts for around the $200 range.

I got the Pelican Resort & Beach club last July for $50(in my defense I was being cheap because I paid for ten hotel rooms) a night and LOVED it. Temperpedic beds and blackout curtains.

That said, The Mondrian and The Loews often run summer specials that might put them in your price range. Keep in mind in season, the same hotels will start around $600 per night. Also watch The Shore Club.

I would wait and book last minute (of course unless it comes up that something major is happening for your dates) to try and get the best deal for the best hotel.

I wrote a list of great places to drink and I'll go see if I can find it and I'll add it to this thread.

Best dive bar in the US? Don't miss The Deuce! I once was standing there between a drag queen and Mick Jagger one night. Open 8am - 5am happy hour from 10am - 7pm.

Best Tourist Trap in South Beach? Don't miss The Clevelander. Really, don't miss it. It's a bar with a hotel attached.

I really like the SLS Hotel. The bar is entirely outdoors and kind of has that 'fall down the rabbit hole' feeling.

The Mondrian has amazing sunsets from their outdoor bar area. Really gorgeous, faces downtown.

Monty's is great if you just want to be a slob and drink cheap (it's cheap in South Beach but not anywhere else on the planet LOL). They have a pool and a pretty good happy hour. Also faces downtown.
