Xunantunich or Altun Ha with River Cruise

Just wondering which of these two to do. I am fit and will probably like to climb and see view from top while the wife probably will stay on ground level. We are on Carnival Dream if that makes a difference in December. Just kind of idea what to expect from either and also is the river ride an added plus?

Can't opine on the river ride. In December it shouldn't be quite a buggy as in the summer months. Having been to both, I'd say the deciding factor is what else would you like to do while in Belize? Altun Ha is much closer and takes less time (look into a private excursion which could cost less and get you there and back without the larger group lag time as on a ship excursion ). Xunantunich should be planned as taking most of if not the entire day due to travel time. Both are climbable. Xunantunich's main temple is much higher.

We plan on doing nothing else but the excursion, we pretty laid back on cruises, never too much any day.

Then take the River cruise. It'll be a bit more scenic than the road trip through all the little smatterings of villages and local bars (just count the Belkin signs:D). At least you might have some animals and birds.
