Great final words Sally and you couldn't have said it better. Like the saying goes: "**** happens....then you have to flush the toilet and move on!"

For those who don't know.....I am the sick one. I have small cell lung cancer that is extensive as it has already spread. I was diagnosed with this the last week of February. Outlook for this type of cancer is not good - they say 9 to 12 months. However, I like being right and proving people wrong - so we shall see!

I'd cruise with any of these ladies again. I love them all for so many different reasons; before the cruise the support and strength they gave me along with my family and friends, on the ship, the love I felt from them, and I know it will only continue. I've told them on board and I'll tell them again......I have three empty bedrooms. All you girls are welcome any time. Just check with me to make sure it's not a chemo week or the week after as those weeks aren't good ones for me! :)

I *really* did want to get a good formal photo of all 10 of us but that just didn't happen :( I did go look at the photo and did purchase it, although it's the first photo I've every purchased in YEARS! I'm not crazy about being 'posed' and really wish the photo I requested be 'natural' came out good, however, that photo was terrible!

I much prefer the more natural, get close, smile, etc. photos!

But, that's just me :)

Harriet

Yes agree with you the "natural" poses are usually the best, but damn I love you with your hands on your hips and being all sassy, hehehe. I'm over a head taller than you too my little sweetpea!

What a great trip for all of you! You answered my question...would you do the GV again...and that looks like a yes! I am blessed with five sisters and could only afford to take them on a Gem one nighter in mini-suites a few years ago. You lived my dream and I thank you for sharing the journey with us.

I'm with you, Harriet. They wanted me to do the "hands on the waist" pose on my last cruise, I told them no! Why in the world do they think that's attractive or natural?

I've been reading your informative and sensible posts for a long time. I'm so sorry that you're ill. Hoping for a miracle.

Hi Harriet,

Wishing you the best health possible, and then some. Sally had alluded to ill health, but didn't go into details (when she visited us at home in Toronto).

You know, the Jade sailing for August 6th has a GV. I'm not sure about the promos, but I know somebody will be onboard and in a celebratory mood. ;)

I am so sorry to hear this Harriet. I have enjoyed reading your posts here on cruise critic and when I just read this my heart ached. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer last October. We were lucky, it was caught early and so far they have caught it all. She is cancer free today but going through the process was so painful. As a sister I wanted to take it all away. I am sure the same way your sisters on this cruise felt. You will be in my prayers.

I met you once, briefly, Harriet. In that moment, my first impression was that this lady is tough. That's about the top compliment I give people, and it makes me think that if anyone can kick cancer's ass, it's a tough lady like you. I hate hearing your news.

Like I posted earlier in this thread I feel like I know all you ladies just by reading each other's posts. So sorry to hear this news. I have already said a prayer for you. My SIL was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and like you chemo weeks are the worst. So glad your cruise sisters are there for you. Support and love is so important. Sending you hugs.

I would like to thank all of you for your kind words, your best wishes , your prayers, etc. I send them back to you and yours as this is an ugly sickness. However my intent was to not hijack this thread as it is not about me. It is about the great friendships that have developed through Cruise Critic and the great cruise that we have all taken due to developing those friendships.

That sounds amazing. I have never been on the Jade but I have heard great things.

Just curious, did you get a hug from Sally? because I did and she gives the best hugs in the world! Love her.

Ok as a quick preview… I've never done any of the slides. I've always wanted to but I've always been afraid and a big chicken. I figured this was the Gem and probably the smallest simple of NCL's slides around. So I told Maria I wanted to go and she was all for it! If I want to go I should go and she's coming with me. She did however have to talk Gretchen into it. When I got to the slide and I saw all the steps I had to go up I about canceled. However I took my time and stopped often to take breaks in between to get my breath back and finally made it to the top. Two kids were in front of us and they pushed off and seem to go extremely fast and again I almost canceled One of them sat and one of them laid down. I ended up sitting down and pushing myself off very slowly. I was thinking to myself this isn't that bad, then I simply slowed down and stopped! That's it. I just stopped. Mid slide! I did not push myself hard enough. I gave myself another push and did finish the slide and loved going through the tunnel! I felt so happy and exhilarated when I finally got to the bottom. I couldn't believe I actually did it!! I would've done it again but the Thought of dealing with those steps and being out of breath again is the only thing that stopped me.

Harriet, your battle is part of this story, do not worry about hijacking, I would have been more forthcoming on your situation, but felt it was your story to tell. Love you so much Xoxox
