SpiritAngel77 Posted May 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2016 I have looked everywhere but cannot find whether we need visa's for New Caledonia, Noumea, Lifou and the other ports on the 9 night cruise in Feb 2017, Does anyone know whether we need a visa on top of our passports for these places? Susie001 Posted May 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2016 No, you only need your passport :)
Gnomey Posted May 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2016 We just did those ports in February and there were no visa charges. Still needed a passport though to get out and into Australia. Steve.

Bodogbodog Posted May 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2016 I've found this site useful for checking what Visa requirements are I'm not suggesting purchasing Visa's from them - if one is required check out the options to do that - but its handy to be able to use it to check the requirements While the advice given to the OP is probably correct without knowing what countries Passport they're travelling on it's impossible to say with any certainty
ozziepost Posted May 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 1, 2016 For Australian Citizens you don't need to get visas for ports visited on a typical SP cruise there are no passport control points to pass through at any of those ports for cruise ship passengers. Just make sure your passport has at least 6 months validity from the time you return home. For those travelling on an overseas passport the appropriate visa for re-entry into Australia is required. You will need to take your cruise card or sea pass and if the ship suggests it government issued photo id such as a drivers license when you go ashore. Enjoy your trip. Australians returning to Australia are not required to have 6 months validity remaining on the passport. It can be used for re-entry into Australia up to the last day. Some countries require the 6 months validity on the passport for entry, but the South Pacific ports don't even check your passport so it doesn't apply. SpiritAngel77 Posted May 2, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Thank you for your replies, I have had a look at what you need for a South Pacific cruise and it stated just a passport so I am happy and not worried anymore.:)
