Captain America: Civil War Premier

We're on the Fantasy right now and Captain America: Civil War releases on land this week. However, there is nothing in the Navigators saying it will be a Premear at Sea. Is it typical that they don't list it until later? We were really hoping it would premier while we were on the cruise.

It released this weekend overseas and was a big hit. I'm surprised it's not on the boat already, given that schedule. It's not like Disney ships are US flagged.

That said, you should hear something about it in the next day or so if they are going to PremEar it.

They will generally try to do it and so far they always seem to accomplish it. That said, with the security involved in moving digital copies, etc, there is always a chance there will be an issue getting it on board (and of course, if something happens to the digital data, they cannot easily get a new copy)

CD told us that they pick it up on the last port day before the premEar. It is sent to the ship's agent on land, which might make things safer.

Of course, technology is evolving rapidly and things may well be different now than 2 years ago.

Like any decent theatre, they do have more than one copy. We know this because they are able to run the same movie in the WDT and the BVT when it is a huge release.

We're hoping to see the PremEar of Finding Dory, as we will be on board the Fantasy during its release.

Crossing our fingers!

We're on the Dream the same week and are counting on it (and being very sleepy upon disembarkation)

I have never been aware of a film made and distributed by Disney or Pixar that didn't do a PremEar at sea. Films that are distributed by Disney or made by another division of Disney (like Miramax) are not always given the same treatment. And yes, we've caught a few of them....

Oh you all just made me go look. Pete's Dragon is released day before our cruise. Will they still play it during our cruise but not as a PremEar?

It's as close to a guarantee as you can get that they will have it. They will NOT tell you that if you call the movie line--they don't tell you it will be on board until it has been released. But if it opens the week before, it will appear on your cruise. Movies tend to hang around a lot longer on the ship than on land (just another hint), especially on cruises of 7 nights or more.
