AlisonB1978 Posted May 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2016 Does anyone know what time the muster dril is on Oceana departing from Venice? Looks like we will be departing at 8pm on 11th May. Our flight from Manchester arrives at 10:40 and we would like to spend some time in Venice (muster drill permitting)
postcardswansea Posted May 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2016 From memory, our Venice muster drill was at 5:30pm, and there was a further call at 7:30pm (?) for anyone who had missed the earlier one.
TheArchitect Posted May 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) We're on the same cruise in July and we're wondering whether there was time for a pre-departure look around Venice. I would be interested to hear how you get on. Edited May 1, 2016 by TheArchitect
Rare Presto2 Posted May 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Hi, We were on Oceana last April and we left Venice at about 10pm which was late for people who had been up early that morning. I still think that Muster Drill was about 5.30pm then. We arrived at the ship at 12 noon, dropped stuff in our cabins in went straight to the water taxi transfer to St Mark's Square. It was a perfect afternoon. Slightly off post, but we are doing this cruise in August and doing the 14 nights Genoa to Genoa. Do we have to do the Muster Drill in Venice as we will already have done it once in Genoa? Thanks

Thanks There was another thread on this topic recently somewhere....but the short answer is almost certainly not - as long as you are in the same cabin (sometimes people move cabins between "segments"). Certainly on Cunard we did not have to in similar circumstances, although that was before Costa Concordia. Probably just best to check with reception early on. TotallyAngelic Posted May 2, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Would the muster drill be at the same time for the departure from Genoa, we thought we might have a look around Genoa in the afternoon but not sure if that is possible. We arrive in Genoa at 10:40 but not sure what time the ship sails. Thanks
dsrdsrdsr Posted May 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2016 Don't worry about it. People who aren't on board are not expected to attend lifeboat drill, so make your Venice arrangements at your pleasure and just make sure you're on board in time for departure. Though not Oceana we did a similar fly-cruise when Ventura was following the same itinerary... https://solentrichardscruiseblog.com/2014/06/09/ventura-a-perfect-fly-cruise-med-break/ We arrived at the ship as many others ex UK were. Though we didn't need to go out into Venice again many did: so you should be okay providing there are no serious hold ups with your flight/transfer. Bon Voyage by the way. Had a look at your blog - brilliant, thank you. Can't wait to do the same in August. Had a fabulous 7 night cruise last year on Oceana from Venice to Genoa so know what to expect for half of the time :)
