Hawaii Cruises Sept or April?

We have done both a few times. This time we had beautiful weather in Hilo (it is often pouring there) and we arrived to the most beautiful spring weather in Vancouver. We are just a week home and the weather is still nice and warm. We sailed in Sept once and got quite rough seas for the first 2 days out of Vancouver due to the end a hurricane.

I would go for either one, with maybe a slight preference for Sept. You really can't predict what the weather is going to be like.

Hawaii does get 2 or 3 tropical storms each year between September & November, though not as frequently as the Caribbean of Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes they can reach hurricane force (our daughter was honeymooning on Kauai during Hurricane Iniki in 1991). Leaving from Vancouver rather than Los Angeles, they probably wouldn't affect your trans-pacific voyage much, but it can bring a LOT of rain to the islands. I'd choose April - you can get a few rainy days, but not of the tropical storm nature.

We cruised from San Diego 5 years ago on the Century to Hawaii. Weather was cold for first couple of days then day 3 WOW the weather was amazing for the whole cruise until 2 days before reaching San Diego again.
