Maximizing dance time Escape Manhattan Dining Room

To wife and I, dancing is what cruising is all about. On the Epic TA a few years ago, the dancers would grab a few tables on the dance floor at about 5 pm, and other dancers would come and go to the stables to about 9 PM.

What is the best way to have the best table near the dance floor and maximize dance time in Manhattan dining room?

I don't fully understand the question either... I'm not sure if you are complaining that people hog tables near the dance floor from between 5 to 9 or if you are saying that's what you had to do on your transatlantic and you don't want to do it.

Besides the Manhattan room, you can dance to the act that plays Latin music. I forget their name but it's a guy on the piano and a girl who sings and occasionally plays the guitar or saxophone. They are in the atrium and there was occasionally people dancing, especially when they played more faster tempo songs.

The Manhattan Dining Room is not the only place on the Escape that has live music. The Skyline Bar opposite the casino on deck 7 has live acts that perform there and I think there is a small dance floor. On deck 8, the 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar has live music and room to dance, as does the District Brew House. And then of course there's the deck parties. Not live music, but lots of dancing, and they cover pretty much everything during the week.

I'd see if you can find out the hours the music runs in the Manhattan Room and then try to get reservations floor side. Probably the later you make the reservation, the less crowded the room will be as people usually tend to dine early and do shows/bars later. If you have a later res, and you are lingering at the table in order to dance, it won't be as much of an issue perhaps. Many people do not like to dine near the dance floor as it is pretty loud, and sometimes it's difficult to talk to table mates.

OP here

Sorry I was not clear.

I was talking about "table hogging" more specifically ballroom type dancing. That's we had on the Epic TA.

So new questions: is the music ballroom dancing type music? Waltz/cha-cha / foxtrot / tango / two-step etc.?

The concept of Manhattan dining room was old New York style supper club which was dining dancing. NCL's problem was that people get lined up for dinner and put on waiting list and knows all this empty on the dance floor in Manhattan dining room.

So the non-dancers demanded tables and the dancers demanded space.

The new cruise ships made less and less dance floor space because dancers don't drink and cost a cruise ship a lot of money.

This is why "table hogging" is a strategy used by ballroom dancers.

Hope this clarifies.

We just got off Escape this morning-here's what we did....ask the hostess for table 100 or close to it. We ate there twice and had a blast each time! Have fun!!

My boyfriend and I dined in the Manhattan Room one night on the Escape this past week and found it kind of hard to coordinate our eating with dancing. It seemed like any time we were finished with part of our meal, the music would stop. It would have been nice to have some consistent music. They also put on mini "shows", which were nice but you couldn't dance during this time. As for getting a table on the dancefloor - that'd just be pure luck. It's a very popular venue, so you may be waiting a while. We weren't very close to the dance floor but that wouldn't have stopped us had we actually been able to dance!
