Where to stay in Miami

Any suggestions on where to stay in Miami a day or two before our cruise. Not looking to break the bank but would like a reasonably nice place to stay. Miami Beach looks fairly close to the port.

It's really based on what you want to do. South Beach is very active. There's lot of boutique hotels there. If you want to stay close to the port. We like to stay at the Intercontinental. It's next to the Bayside Marketplace. We're staying at the Hampton Inn Brickell for our next cruise. It will be our 3rd time there. It has a good gastro pub next door and a nice free breakfast. It's rated #1 on tripadvisor. You'd a think, a Hampton Inn? I'm guessing since you're traveling with a 3 year old, South Beach may not be the best locale.

What do you want out of it? Do you have kids? What is you rate per day budget?

We always stay at the Holiday Inn - Port of Miami. The Bayside Marketplace is right across the street and it's a great place to walk around. Bubba Gump's is right across the street too.

Also ... if you get a room on one of the upper floors, you get a great view of the cruise ships in the morning.

Getting a taxi to the port is easy and fast.

I like the Intercontinental as well. I also like that it is near a cvs and a Walgreens for those last minute things you want to bring on cruise. I liked having dinner and walking over to Bayside and seeing all the ships from the hotel room.

Another vote for Intercontinental. Staying there in 10 days. Only a few minutes from port, walkable restaurants, nice hotel. Its usually the 4.5 downtown Miami "express deal" on Priceline.
