Nothing better while not on a Carnival cruise than to get whisked away on the Pacific Princess for a hour, each hour, for the next remaining 12.

I never watched this show till after my first cruise, and watched the whole series every Sunday morning after, which helped ease the PCD I encountered shortly thereafter.

I grew up watching Love Boat, thinking how cool everybody was and all the awesome places they went! Now that I'm all grown up and I've finally started cruising I just wish i could have partied with Julie and Doc! She loved coke and he got all the women.... now that would be an awesome cruise!! Oh and that pirate themed bar they had, sooo 70's!! Second only to The Regal Beagle!

I remember watching The Love Boat with my grandparents when I would stay overnight. I would be on Grandma's lap and we would both have our bowls of ice cream. I adored Julie and wished I could work there. Little did I know when I grew up I would love being on the ship so much!

Sadly I never got to cruise with them, but I know my grandma would have had a blast. She loved casinos and went to Vegas quite a few times. She always had luck too. Wish some of that would have been passed down in the gene pool! [emoji22]

I get a kick out of seeing how they portrayed the cabins and hallways as being huge. That and how Captain Stubing always was interacting with the passengers.

Indeed; huge cabins, and never any wind on deck!

As To captain Stubing, you probably never met captain Rolf Bassenberg of the Caribe I / Regal Empress. I referred to him as "the original Love Boat Captain", and he would interact with pax as often as time allowed him, and he made the time! The crew referred to him as "captain roadrunner", as he was always all over the ship.

I watched with a jaded eye. Where cruising has evolved from. A glass of cigs on the dining room tables. Doctor walking the ship seems like 24/7. The only thing that hasn't changed is the size of the pools.

We were luckily enough to get a private tour of the set by Brett Garwood who was Aaron Spelling's right hand.

We spent about three hours on the set watching a "formal" night gathering in one of the night clubs. The three hours turned into about three minutes when it aired.

I ate and drank coffee at the craft table with Issac and Doc. My oldest son was nine at the time and still remembers that trip to this day.

You will still see Mr Garwood's name in the credits at the end of most Spelling TV programs. He drove us all over the lot in a golf cart visiting the sets for MASH and Starsky and Hutch, which were doing night shoots so all we could see was Love Boat.

I loved that show too. I went on my first cruise in 1979 and would watch that show every time I could before we sailed.

I actually got to sail on that ship to Bermuda from NYC in 2000 - that was a really neat experience.
