Where to buy wine in OSJ

There's not really a dedicated wine store in Old San Juan that I remember but if looking for some mainstream wines you might try CVS in front of the pier or Supermax at Plaza de Armas (about 5 blocks from the pier). If you're staying at in the Condado area your best bet is the Supermax on De Diego Ave. It's open 24 hrs. and has a much larger selection of wines and spirits that either places in Old San Juan.

Depending when you cruise they are also putting a Walgreens in the Sheraton. I think they have a smaller location now that has some wine in OSJ, but the store in the Sheraton is supposed to be much bigger with a larger wine selection according to something I read on a travel blog about OSJ. Just thought I would mention that since it might be more convenient depending on where you are staying if it is open by the time you are there.

I thought it was just torn out. When I was there in April, it was just a big open room with construction stuff in it. I do not remember any signage that a Walgreens was going in.

The new Walgreen's will sit in the space previously occupied by a casino (mind-boggling business decision since that specific casino had some of the best business in the San Juan area, without mentioning huge business from cruise ship crew members). They are still under construction but as of two weeks ago Walgreen's signage has already gone up.

Yes...We stayed at the Sheraton May 5th & 6th and the Walgreen's signage was up and the space was busy with workmen.

Ah. I was there mid-April.

As for turning the casino into lease space: They income from the leases and therefore won't have to pay for the employees and F&B costs associated with running the casino… Just a few thoughts.
