happy v Posted June 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Barcelona: easy to do on your own using ho-ho bus. Villefranche: If you want to go to Monaco, easy to do on the train. Livorno: We went on the Florence/Pisa excursion.

Rare dronnygirl Posted June 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2016 Livorno - we did DIY trip by train to Lucca and Pisa - lovely day out and easy to do Calvi - Lovely place. Spent the day walking round the resort and enjoyed it, would like to go back and see more of the island.
Tony1878 Posted June 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2016 Just got back off this itinerary :- Villefranche - went on the Thomson trip to Monaco - Ok but nothing to get excited about Calvi - Tender port, nice to walk around, have a meal or drink, stroll around the shops. Marseille - Port shuttle takes you into Marseille Livorno - we did the Thomson Florence trip Barcelona - walk off the ship and the HOHo bus stop is right there, you can also walk in if you feel fit enough
WeeCountyMan Posted June 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Barcelona - walk off the ship and the HOHo bus stop is right there, you can also walk in if you feel fit enough That'll be the shuttle bus service from the port to the bottom of Las Ramblas, neat Columbus's statue ? It's not the city tour HoHo - but you can join that nearby.
MrLoLoLo Posted June 17, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Thanks for info, can you elaborate on thomson Monaco trip, where, time etc. I really want to do Monaco so booked that one, it's the longer one as there were 2 as well. Calvi happy to walk as above. Barca happy to pop on local bus once confirmed which then Pisa want to do so unsure whether to do Thomson trip or not. Marseille, not a clue really, what's to do/see? WeeCountyMan Posted June 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Marseille, not a clue really, what's to do/see? We were quite disappointed in Marseille - avoid the HoHo bus tour, a waste of time and money, the city just does not lend itself to this due to the number of high buildings along the route. The old port area is nice though and there must be interesting alternatives - maybe others here can advise ?
arwen taylor Posted June 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 17, 2016 We were quite disappointed in Marseille - avoid the HoHo bus tour, a waste of time and money, the city just does not lend itself to this due to the number of high buildings along the route. The old port area is nice though and there must be interesting alternatives - maybe others here can advise ? As most above, we have just returned. Villefrance - Had purse stolen at viewpoint so be very careful, I was not the only person. Villefrance itself was nice but had I realised how close the station was I would probably have caught the train into Nice. Livorno - Did the afternoon Pisa trip which was worth while, the guide was great and gave us loads of free time to wander around. Calvi - lovely port, a bit like a small St Tropez - plenty of touristy shops and nice restaurants. Would love to come back for a holiday here. Marseille - as it was Sunday and it was a lovely day we stayed on the ship and sunbathed - this is one of the days where it would have paid to catch a Thomson tour inland, but we are down here by car in September and can do that sort of thing them. Barcelona - easy to walk around, plenty of tourist sights within a walk of the ship. See the market off La Ramblas, now very touristy but lovely things to eat! Parents in law who had limited mobility caught the HOHO bus near the ship and spent the day on that!
