Cab Fare - MIA to Ft. Lauderdale

Depends on the traffic!!! Have you considered Supershuttle? They leave from the airport at very short intervals - no idea how much - perhaps you could e-mail them!! Or try and book a cab at a set price on the internet. If they let you down, you can always hop on Supershuttle!!!

Cab fare would be roughly $65-80, and a bit uncomfortable. The cheapest way is usually to just rent a car.

Super Shuttle also operates from Miami... http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/mia.htm

We usually use Tri-County/Airport Express... http://www.floridalimo.com/

Or Larry's Limo... http://www.larryslimo.com/

Both are reliable, reputable local companies.

Ya know-- with all the years I been coming to cruise critic there are certain things i dont pay attention to-- like renting a car..

Now I need information-- what company uses free shuttle to get from FLL to get a rental car?

From FLL to rental cars??? ALL of the rental car companies that service FLL will - In fact all of the major rental car companies and their cars are all located in the new "Car Rental Center", which is a large parking garage in the middle of the airport terminals. If you come into Terminal 1 you can just walk across the street, if you come into any of the other terminals you can catch an airport "Car Rental Center" bus that will take you there.

Ah, well that's a bit more difficult. The rental car companies that are in the "Car Rental Center" no longer have their own shuttles. Some however will pick you up at the port, some shuttle you to "neighborhood" locations though. The only major rental car company with a large off airport site and their own shuttles now is Thrifty, they're located just outside the midport entrance. If you want one of the other companies though that won't shuttle you anywhere, it's only a 5-10 minute cab ride from Port Everglades to the airport "Car Rental Center". And a cab is a lot easier than standing around waiting for a shuttle anyway.

We have a handicapped person that will bewith us. Is it a lot of hassle to get in a cab withluggage to theairport to get a car then be on our way. I wonder if the cruise lines will allow our friend to wait at theport til we get the car then pickhm hup when we are done?

On the National Car Rental site they list the port has having a pickup and return counter. If so how close to the port is it?

On the National Car Rental web site, both the airport and Port Everglades are listed at the same address (600 Terminal Drive, Ft Lauderdale , FL ) . That address is for the car rental center at Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport that's conveniantly located 5-10 minutes from Port Everglades. ;)
