MSC drink packages

First time on MSC.....what is your opinion on the different drink packages??

It really depends on the category we book. When we book Yacht Club, all of our drinks within the Yacht Club are included so we would purchase 2 booklets of 18 drink vouchers to use around the rest of the ship.

When we booked a Fantastica balcony category, we chose the Allegrissimo Adult all Inclusive just so we could have the flexibility of having a top shelf cocktail from the bar, or a pastry from Piazza del Dodge,, or a cafe macchiato from Caffé Italia without having to worry about the cost because they were all included in the drink package.

Our drinking habits may not necessarily be the same as others so be sure to read through all of the different offerings and choose a package that matches your drinking preferences. Just an fyi,,,if you choose any drink package,,everyone in your stateroom/same booking must purchase a drink package as well. If you choose the voucher path,,there is no need for everyone to purchase a drink voucher booklet.:)

This was taking from another thread and written by Gambee.

"Our personal favorite package was the "Allegrisimo Escape" this is a voucher package. For $72 pre-cruise, you get 15 drink vouchers to use on the ship. The vouchers are good for pretty much 85% of drinks you usually find on cruises. If you want brand drinks, they will not work. Nonetheless, all in all with this package each drink comes out to $4.80, not a bad deal. However, it gets even better; if you look for the daily happy hours you can get 2 drinks for one voucher!"

Is the information by Gambee still valid? The drinks vouchers now seem to be in books of 12 or 18. I am trying to decide for our next cruise whether to buy a few books of 18 between us or the classic drinks package again!

Gambia's information is no longer current onboard MSC Divina nikki. Here is the link to the current drink voucher programs:https://www.msccruisesusa.com/en-us/Already-Booked/Cruise-Upgrade/Alcohol-Packages.aspx

That's why I questioned it. The review is from a couple of years ago. We were only on The Divina in April and found the drinks package good, we trotted up are receipts at the end of the cruise and just about broke even. However in january we are on for 9 nights and have 5 shore days .. Something to think about!

Is the service charge included in the vouchers?

If you pre-purchase your vouchers than,,yes,,the service charges are waived. However,,if you choose to purchase while on the ship,,a service fee will be added to the voucher booklet price.:)

Is the 15% service charge included in the Allegrisimo package?

Does not paying the service charge mean the bartenders are not tipped?

Put another way, does the service charge actually go to the bartender staff or is it just a "fee" taken directly by MSC - the company?

We are doing our first MSC cruise in April. The voucher prices seem to be paired with the individual cruise. In our case the 18 drink for $89.00 works out to less than $5.00/drink.

Will this price hold until we cruise or will it increase as time grows near?

Is it refundable if for some reason you can't use it?

Thanks.
