The Waffles Are Wonderful

Cat, :) oops, forgive me. I didn't know it was a secret;) And I certainly

don't want to make anyone cry.

And I had never even tried them before this cruise! So someone kept it

a secret from me too.

 

I really enjoy your posts Lois and hope that perhaps one day we'll sail together :)

Hi Janet,:) Yes I am a solo cruiser.

 

I found Celebrity just over 2 years ago and have enjoyed every one

of my cruises.

 

How can you have a successful cruise?.....Well, I always ask for a large

table at dinner and have been quite lucky with tablemates. Just returning

from SUMMIT, we had an 8 top...all of us became friends through our

ROLL CALL.

I am outgoing and on a cruise it is very easy to meet people on a ship.

I also usually book 1 or 2 shore excursions through the ship. They might

be a little more $$$ sometimes but that is another excellent way to meet

others.

And the staff and crew on the X ships are fantastic as well.:) They

are friendly and Celebrity has a saying of "treating you famously".

Now, I know alot of folks don't always agree with it, but I always

feel pampered and am always made to feel special. Whenever I step

on an X ship it is like I have come home again.

They were so good on the Infinity last Dec. to Hawaii, that we purchased a professional waffle iron when we got home! Prior to this, I didn't much care for waffles! Go figure! (they still are not as good as on the ship so we will have to sail Celebrity again!) What an excuse!!!:D :D :D

Frankly I'm too lazy to 'make' waffles...I had a hard enough time getting my butt up to make pancakes from a mix this past weekend LOL

i LOVE waffles, and im sure Celebrity's are wonderful. i will try them in Dec. on Constellation but isnt it an exaggeration to say that one lines are better than anothers? We're talking eggs, flour, sugar, and a few more ingredients dumped into a hot machine that tells you when its done! i've had waffles on many ships and many restaurants that were (probably) equally delicious. sometimes the cheerleading on this board is beyond comprehension, we're talking about waffles!:rolleyes: if i come back and they were undeniably better, i'll eat my hat! (with syrup);)

Has anyone noticed that the waffle iron, which was a kitchen staple during the fifties, has become popular again with the younger generation? My husband and I were invited to eight weddings this year and almost every couple had a waffle iron listed in their bridal registry.

I make it a point everywhere I go, if I get excellent service, I ask for the manager and compliment the person. I feel that nowadays so many companies ONLY hear complaints and never compliments. I think cheerleading is a good thing :)

I was bummed I missed the waffles, so next time it is a must! Also look for the crossants at the Cova Cafe. I had to make a special trip there every morning for my 3 chocolate ones! Nothing like it with a cup of coffee on the balcony!! :D

After 6 Celebrity Cruises I tried my first waffles on SUMMIT

and I must say everyone who has ever said anything good about

them knows of what they speak:)

 

We had them one morning up on the buffet, sat in the AFT area.

They were probably some of the best waffles I have ever eaten.

Light and fluffy, wonderful texture and flavor too.

 

For anyone who has not tried them~I recommend them highly:):D

and I want to be back on the ship!!!!

Lois and I had the waffles one morning, and they are everything she says they are and more.

I had mine with the sour cherry topping, and I was in hog heaven.

I usually do not order waffles in a restaurant, since the quality of a waffle deteriorates very quickly. These were literally hot off the press!

I can't speak for other cruise line waffles, but Celebrity's will not disappoint.:)

I don't recall the specific hours though. Check your Daily and it is right

there;)

I think it is from about 7am till 11am....something like that anyway.

Just go up and walk to the back...AFT.....you will see the station.

And I am sure you will see the folks waiting on line too:)

From the Mercury daily: 7:30am - 10:00am Fresh Waffles (AFT Grill) :)

While on Mercury, if you find the pizza and pasta station during the day, you've found where the waffles are made in the morning! There is a burger grill near the main pool area but you'll need to head all the way through the Palm Springs Cafe to the aft pool to find the grill where the waffles are made!;) Enjoy!

OK, I have not eaten this marvelous toasted delicacies on any of our last three cruises, galaxy (2), and century....going on the century jan '06. Where do I find them ??? I'll feel like I missed the best part of the cruise if I miss them again...

Century, Mercury and Galaxy are basically laid out the same way.

Go up to the Lido Deck and there should be a Waffle Station.....I am

guessing in the AFT area.

The waiters are always around and I am sure they can point you

right towards those waffles:D ;)
