Celebrity Summit Post Cruise tour/transfer to Newark airport

If you have done the post tour/ transfer from the Summit to EWR I would appreciate your feedback.

Does it stop at some of the sights/neighborhoods or just drive around for the 4 hours?

Our flight foes not leave until 4:30 pm so this sounds better than sitting in the airport!

Yes, we did this in May. Thought it was one of the best tours we've ever taken. We just added it on our first day of the cruise to use up some OBC. You can choose to return to EWR by 1:30pm or JFK for $99 per person.

Like you, we had a late flight (6pm), so we had time to kill. We were both really impressed with how well-run the tour was. We were lucky in that traffic was unusually light the weekend we were there so we got to vote on what other sites we wanted to see.

We were told to meet at 8:00 (I think it was) in the dining room, then when our group was called, we were escorted off the ship by the nicest crew member! One of our pieces of luggage was misplaced by the stevedores and 3 crew members + my DH looked for it for a good 10-15 mins. They finally found it in the wrong area, so we were the last to board the bus. We stretched out in the back while others crammed into the seats, 2 by 2. (I never understand people that insist on cramming into seats like that when they can take a whole row to themselves, but whatever). The bus was only about 1/2 full.

We actually got out and stretched our legs and spent more time at sights than I expected! We stopped at: a viewing place for the Statue of Liberty and a bathroom break, then 5 mins. later at the World Trade Center/Freedom Tower for a good 30 mins. (got some lunch, visited a deli, took pictures of the tower & the famous fire station, sat around and talked to others), Central Park for about 10 mins., and finally, Rockefeller Center for about 20 mins.

There was a bathroom on board the bus if needed but the guide was good about pointing out other areas to visit facilities if needed. We went by Wall Street, Times Square (glad we didn't stop there - what a zoo!), speaking of the zoo - drove by that, Fifth Avenue, the Hudson Bridge, and so many other things I couldn't possibly remember them all. It was definitely worth the money. ;)

Your experience sounds much better than the review that I just read on the Celebrity web page. Not at all flattering. Only one stop at Rockefeller City for 30 minutes. The rest of the time spent in the bus. I had nixed the idea of this post cruise excursion until I read this thread. ;)

We are actually heading back to a hotel in NJ (near Penn Station) after the cruise, but we cannot check-in until 3:00 or so. Thought this excursion might be nice for getting into the city. Then once we were dropped off at EWR, we could call the free hotel shuttle to come pick us up. :)

Can any one else give their experience?
