GMECruiser Posted June 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2016 Can someone tell me if you can use the princess app (that lets you keep in touch with other passengers) on The Crown? Also, how does this work so that you are not actually using your phone on the ship and incurring outrageous charges? Thanks!
Kenswing Posted June 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2016 Yes you can use it on the crown. You'll be using the ship's wifi not cellular data. You can actually leave your phone in airplane mode and just enable wifi.
fishywood Posted June 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2016 You no longer need to download the app. When you get onboard enter crown.princess.com into your phone's browser. You will be prompted to sign up for Princess at Sea which allows you to view the daily schedule of activities, check your onboard account, and message other phones (as long as your companions also sign up) using the ship's wireless intranet whether or not you have purchased an internet plan. Logging on to the internet is now a two-step process so you should not inadvertently do so. If worried about data charges from your cellular carrier, either disable data roaming or just leave the phone in airplane mode.
Astro Flyer Posted June 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) Can someone tell me if you can use the princess app (that lets you keep in touch with other passengers) on The Crown? Also, how does this work so that you are not actually using your phone on the ship and incurring outrageous charges? Thanks! The Princess@Sea Messenger app is no longer available to download because it's no longer necessary. You use free onboard Wi-Fi access to the ship's intranet through your web browser so there are no fees unless you want to access the paid Internet to access websites & email. I put my mobile devices on airplane mode & select the Wi-Fi option to access the ship's system. Click on this link to view a Princess webpage about their Princess@Sea system and Messenger but disregard the app download information because it's unnecessary & no longer available to download. http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/activities/princess-at-sea/ I used the P@S system on the Crown & it was very useful for me.
