wildcat68 Posted June 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2016 I would like opinions from those who have sailed the Odyssey as to the deck 5 veranda. They are described as having steel part way up and then glass to the handrail. Are these veranda designs obstructing the view whilst sitting out and enjoying the experience as you sail along? In other words, are the deck 6 verandas all that much more user friendly?

wildcat68 Posted June 29, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks, that is what I assumed but needed verification.
markham Posted June 29, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2016 The metal part runs from the floor up 80 cm to glass and then the wood railing. Why not measure 80 cm on a glass door at home, sit nearby, and you will see how this works for you. Happy and healthy sailing!

Flamin_June Posted June 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2016 have experienced both the part metal and the all glass verandas. To us it makes little difference, and in fact, in some ways the part metal can be better. It offers some shade, if you prefer to not fry your legs while sitting out and the inner facing structure has some handy ledges - perfect for placing, for example, binoculars or sun cream in a handy spot. It hardly obscures the view and anyway the view is often a rather dreary dock-side, or lots of fairly uniform sea and sky with the odd bit of plastic floating by. In fact, having the glass fronted veranda is something hardly worth crossing a busy road for, let alone paying hundreds of extra bucks.

wildcat68 Posted July 6, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted July 6, 2016 These are reassuring posts as we have booked a V1 Guarantee. I really don't think there are too many "bad" suites on the Odyssey.
