Points for a charter cruise?

I am considering going on a charter cruise and then doing a B2B. Do you earn points on a charter cruise? If not, then I might book a lower category and then switch to a Suite for the next cruise. Thanks!

My experience is with Celebrity, so take it for what it's worth.

My company charters a ship every year. You do earn points and can use the discounts coupons/offers while on board for your respective level. However, the free distribution of alcohol is something that is not permitted.

I have done three of the Rock Legends cruises. The Concierge Lounge was open to suite guests, but the Diamond Lounge was not. The event staff actually used that for their headquarters. No C&A perks, discounts, etc were available. I think my D+ status showed up on my seapass card on the first cruise, but not on subsequent ones. I did cruise in a suite all three times and did get extra suite points.

I take from this other than double points, you gain nothing other than room size for booking a suite? No help boarding? Nothing but points? I guess a balcony would have sufficed and saved a bunch of money.

I sailed a charter on Indy for Rock Legends cruise and received C&A points for the cruise. This particular cruise the charity was getting a percentage of on board sales, so no C&A benefits.

When booking the cruise were you able to get the balcony discount that Diamonds get when booking a balcony cabin? I imagine the answer will be no, but seeking clarification on that.

No. All cabin fares are set by the chartering organization.

It depends on if the chartering organization decides to allow points. Some do and some don't. You'll have to ask the chartering group. If they approve points accrual it is stipulated in their contract with RCI for the cruise. As stated by others, NAHA allows points for their Rock Legends cruises.

Charter groups exercise a lot of control over many aspects of the cruise, pretty much they can dictate everything other than health and safety, navigation of the ship, security protocols. They set dress codes, or lack of them, they can set menus to be used from what the cruise line has to offer, meal times, even what is served by bars in some cases, including prices.

A friend of ours brought up going on a music cruise next February....but we are already booked on Harmony the prior week, and would need to cancel Harmony to go on the other cruise.....which we have no interest in doing at all.....and your answer would be another reason for my lack of interest. From the prices she told me, they were incredibly high and made no sense regardless of what we had already booked.

Yes, I agree. This worries me a bit but we will have fun no matter. We booked a GS for the added perks, might have considered something less with a balcony had we known up front. I know this is a sold out cruise in just about the first few hours and very popular. In the past, they had shared the ship with others. This can be a rowdy bunch. I just hope on our floor with the suites, they didn't allow too many people in a room. We would like someplace to get away. The Ports are not fantastic. No discount for status.

The Charter set the fees and many cabins are donated to those that can't otherwise pay for them or unusual circumstances would not normally allow them to cruise. So I know we are paying extra for this and part is a donation. It is for a good cause.

The higher cruise fares have to pay for the performers cabins and expenses, as well as their performance fees for playing too, something many don't realize when they ask why music charters are 'so expensive'.

No C & A balcony or suite discounts for our chartered cruise, we received double points for staying in a suite.

On the last Rock legends cruise, the concierge lounge was not open to suite guests, the concierge told us it was being used by Peter Frampton and his guests. The diamond lounge also was not open to diamond and up members. We were so busy going from one music venue to another I did not miss those perks. The only one I missed was escorted debarkation.
