Jgoodall08 Posted July 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Hi we are a family of 7 so I am trying to avoid doing Excursions due to the cost. Do the 7 of us fit in a cab? Are they vans? Am I right that it would be 20$pp round trip to one of the beaches? So 140$?
Ms411 Posted July 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2016 There are several types of taxis. The safari taxi, which is the most popular, can hold about 20 people. Depending on where your ship docks, a taxi could be as little as $8 per person round trip to thr closest beach. The $20 per person round trip is for the most often recommended beach, Sapphire. Fare can be higher to Sapphire if you're docking at Crown Bay.
mcmarya Posted July 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2016 St. Thomas is one of the few places that charges by the person so the cost can be outrageous if you have more than a couple of people.

blue_water Posted July 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2016 The $20pp round trip is for all of the nicer East End beaches, not just Sapphire. The fare is reasonable, it just gets expensive for larger families. At some point it pays to look at arranging a private taxi by the hour. But let us know what ship you are on and when you sail for more helpful info on the closest beach, etc.
