Casino on HAL

Going on Konsingdam out of Amsterdam in August. I am a first time cruiser on HAL. Do the slot machine accept and pay in $US dollars or Euros? Can you buy a debit card from the casino in advance for slot machines? I would prefer not to take an advance against my cabin.

They pay in dollars and you can pay cash at the cage and put on your slot card.

is a "slot card" a separate card from your shipboard card? Do you preload it at the casino cashier and use it thru out the cruise putting your winnings (well, if you have any) back onto the card when finished with a machine? Then cash the card out at the end of the cruise?

i think it was your room key but you used a code when you put it in the slot machine and it shows you how much you have. You can put winning on this "account" when you change machines. I only did slots one day when the tables were dead.

You use your cruise card at the slots; you create an account by adding a pin number. You can feed it USD in cash and I believe you can also charge an amount to your onboard account (I have not done that). Should you not loose everything, you go to the cashier to cash out any balance on your card. You can keep it on your card for the whole cruise and continue playing by transferring money form your card to the machine but must cash out on the last night,

The "slot card" you define would simply be your cabin key card. You can deposit money in your account and then use it in the casino. The casino accepts and pays out in US$.

or you can just charge to your on board account using your cabin key card - no need to deposit money but I use a credit card to pay my account and this may be different if you are paying your account in cash

I believe that if you charge to your shipboard account that there is a 3% "vig"

No 3% for cash advance put on your account when using slots. There is a 3% fee when you get cash on your account when playing tables. Guess it's because your actually receiving cash? Strange because you could do this on your slot account and then cash out !

You can pre-purchase casino chips, which can then be cashed to play the slots. Or you can simply pre-purchase some on board credit. (You may read that OBC may not be used in the casino, but that applies only to OBC given to you by HAL or Carnival Corp. Purchased OBC is essentially a cash deposit against any on board charges.)

Thanks for that clarification. I'm VERY familiar :rolleyes:with the way that your shipboard card is used in the casino slots on Princess but was confused here with the term "slot card".
