Valor - quick review

My husband, granddaughter were on the Valor June 25th. We are almost at platinum level. Would like to say this was the best cruise but can't. The staff was great but had to wait a long time for dinner to be served. Think there were problems in the kitchen because the staff was actually almost running to try to get the food to you as quickly as possible. Entertainment was fine except for the Comedy Club. Went in one night and there was a guy there from NC - started out funny (yes we were warned it was R rated) but then it went down hill from there. Nothing but porno - he discussed things I cannot even put in this review. Carnival needs to review the acts better. Went in the dance club one night (had been going on/off all week). On the 6th night of our cruise a girl backed her boyfriend up against the rails and immediately started a lap dance on him. She got the results she wanted but to think that my granddaughter was in there really upset me. I asked the guards when it started becoming a strip joint. Yes I have written Carnival - will have to think twice about them in the future.

Thanks for the review, we will be sailing Valor in November, I am not much of a comedy club person so won't be going there and I do dance with my husband but I would probably go to the 40 and up, but I thought the clubs were for 18 and up. How old was your grand daughter?

It's weird how different dining service can be. We had a party of 6 on that cruise and it was the fastest service we've had in a few cruises. We had 6:00 seating so maybe there's a difference. Or maybe our crew just had it down pat. I did notice that some people would still be eating as we left the MDR.

Funny that you mention a couple that was getting too frisky. My nephew said he saw people getting pretty intimate and he made fun of them to their face. I wish I was there to see that.

I think a lot of the comics get pretty raunchy. Of course, I like that, so don't mind it. But I can see why people wouldn't.

We were at the late seating - food was good, just the wait was really long. Lots of empty tables around us by the end of the week. Guess they ate in the back of the ship. I like a good comic also, he just stepped over the line. Some people got up and left. I would have also but my granddaughter was still there with some friends and not at our table. I should have pulled her out. She knew we were upset and came and talked to us afterwards. She said that the worst one that week and the others did not discuss what he did. I hope Carnival will listen to my complaints and review what is allowed and what is not.

Sadly, that raunchy behavior IS the new norm in clubs these days not just on carnival. It had been years since going "clubbing" but recently, in a bachelorette party, we went to 3 different higher end clubs and I was a bit taken aback at some of the behavior...

I was on this cruise as well. We had late dining in the Washington dining room. If anything, I'd say dinner felt rushed, not slow.....

With regards to the comedian, I knew going in that it was R rated so a thick skin was required. If I got more than I could handle, I would have just left. Just because its not enjoyable to me, doesn't mean its not enjoyable to someone else.

My only complaints about the cruise were the "lack" of entertainment. For an 8 day cruise, there should have been more than 2 production shows, and I wish some new comedians had gotten on in Aruba when the first set got off, instead of waiting for Grand Turk.

When we were on the Valor several months ago, we had very good service in the MDR. The staff of the Valor was the best crew we have ever had on any of our cruises. They were super friendly, attentive and helpful. The comedians we saw were very funny-- yes, they were definitely R rated at times, but nothing that compared to porn. I hate that the OP did not experience the same as we did.
