DrVal Posted October 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2005 While researching for our upcoming Celebrity trip, we read about an Acapulco trolley that hits 25 stops for 65 pesos -- unlimited on & off. Does anyone have any first-hand experience with this trolley?!? Are/Were you better off with a private tour?!? Thanks in advance! :) Here is a quote and a link: Quote: "A great way to see many of these sites is to buy a 65 peso ticket for a two hour ride on what is called a trolley but is actually a brightly painted bus that makes stops at 25 points of interest throughout Acapulco. For that 65-peso price, riders can get on and off as often as they like. One great place to stop is in the Zocalo, the old downtown, complete with a square and an old church, the Nuestra Senora de la Soledad, built in 1930" Link: http://www.sogonow.com/archives/2005/08/up_in_the_hills.php

Does the "trolley" stop near the cruise terminal. If we e-mail them, will they send a brochure or map of where the trolley goes?

If we e-mail them, will they send a brochure or map of where the trolley goes? They stop at "El Zocalo" a few blocks to the west of the pier, email them and ask them if they could scan one, although the one I lost was in spanish maybe they can provide one in english. DrVal Posted October 28, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted October 28, 2005 Here is an informational update on the trolley. Our opinions are based on the information we received via email using the email address Roberto supplied. The text of our message to them and their reply is below: Our Email: Hi, I read at CruiseCritic that there is a trolley that goes to 25 stops in Acapulco for 65 pesos. Do you have any more information about this? Maybe you can email a brochure? Thank you Their reply: Hi, We have the www.tranviasturisticos.com, but is in spanish, however, sometimes other companies rent the trolley and they make the deal with turists and these company have diferent trips. Good luck. Ivan Fecha: Miércoles, Octubre 26, 2005 7:54 pm Asunto: trolley information We would say **buyer beware** on planned use of the trolley AND make sure you have some type of back-up plan. Be it a cell phone and a local taxi driver's number, etc. We did not feel comfortable enough with the website information and the tour operator's reply to our email to use the trolley ourselves. They basically said they had no idea who would be operating the trolley -- they lease it out to other people/companies to run the tour on certain days -- so you have no idea how reliable or responsible those operators will be on a day-to-day basis (the underlined statement is, of course, our opinion only based on the information they provided us). Links for more info: **The webpages are in Spanish but if yougo to the Google homepage and click on the right just outside the search box on "language tools" and put in the URL, selecting Spanish-to-English they will do a rough translation for you... Hope this helps!!! :) http://tranviasturisticos.com/contenido.htm http://tranviasturisticos.com/acapulco.htm
ACA_Port Authority Posted October 28, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 28, 2005 I would have to agree with DRVal, we rented them (both trolleys) yesterday for transfer of passengers of the GTS Summit from the tender launch to the cruise terminal durinf the entire day and they had to cancel the "tour routes" that they have advertised on the web page, also the fact that the web page says in spanish, "subject to amount of guests" that translated means, we won't go if we don't have a minimum head count. Elcruzer Posted October 29, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 29, 2005 That's too bad. It seemed like a good thing to do but won't count on it now. I didn't even get a response to my e-mail to them.
