Jana60 Posted August 4, 2016 #76 Share Posted August 4, 2016 The price of an inner cabin on Carnival right now is running $800 to $978 per person on their oldest ships. NCL is charging $949 per person for a balcony with the included ultimate drink package and 3 Day dining package on the Escape which is one of their newest ships so why would you choose an inner Room on NCL if you can afford the $900 per person Inner Room on Carnival? To be fair I checked the current prices and discovered that they actually have some inner rooms for only $495 - $600 per person but this still means the price is about the same for both of the cruise lines for an inner room. my3sonsnj Posted August 4, 2016 #77 Share Posted August 4, 2016 There has still not been any official confirmation that uptown grill is being replaced. As of now, both grills on the BA and GA still exist. I was sure from what I read here that uptown would be gone by the time I cruise a month from now. pspercy Posted August 4, 2016 #78 Share Posted August 4, 2016 My frustrations stem from planning a group grouse on the Getaway. Correct me if I am wrong, but . . .k. :D:D:D:eek::eek:
bumorgan Posted August 4, 2016 Author #79 Share Posted August 4, 2016 I believe in one post, it was said that the OP's cruise is a 4 day cruise and he had an issue that lobster was not being served, Actually someone told me I should have cancelled this cruise and went to Carnival instead. I responded that Carnival only does a 4 day to Bermuda. I still like NCL ships and entertainment but can't risk booking a year out and watching more things disappear. I'll wait to go back to NCL after the shake down.:( Dan
BrandoMan13 Posted August 4, 2016 #80 Share Posted August 4, 2016 FYI. http://cruisefever.net/08032-norwegian-adding-margaritaville-to-two-more-cruise-ships/ Thanks, I did see this today. Seems like the closest thing we'll get to official confirmation. NCL will prob open the margaritaville's and then a week later send out the email notifications lol. $hip$hape Posted August 4, 2016 #81 Share Posted August 4, 2016 So, I can go home, anytime I want? "I'm no little kid! I want something done!" Are WE committed? "How are we going to win our money back?"
Two Wheels Only Posted August 4, 2016 #82 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Twowheelsonly, Royal has Universal characters on most of their ships. I know that they have some just as NCL had some. I want one cruise line that has them ALL. :D
swedish weave Posted August 4, 2016 #83 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Has anybody noticed that some who get their cruises comped via CAS are waving the pom poms and rah rah NCL. I can see why they don't accept anything negative about NCL, but give the rest of us a break and stop disputing the FACTS we post. Please !!! A lot of these changes don't affect us at all. That does not mean I am going along with what I see is happening. Prices are rising and the benefits have decreased. That does not mean I am going along with what I see is happening. Prices are rising and the benefits have decreased. Imo, when Sheehaneft, NCL took a downturn.I get my cabins at a great price from CAS at sea, but I'm not going to become a jeerleard on items that I either don't have an issue with or have no impact on my cruises. It amazes me that some think we should all jump on their bandwagon, just because they hate everything NCL does. What is a negative to some is not a negative to others. For example, for some it is a deal breaker that there is no lobster, for me, I could care less. For some the 18% gratuity on the SDP and UDP is a big issue, but for me, it just saves me having to carry cash on the ship, because I've always tipped for my free drinks and dining. I certainly wish some would understand that how they feel is not how the rest of the world feels. Edited August 4, 2016 by NLH Arizona
Quilting_Cruiser Posted August 4, 2016 #86 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Everyone has their priorities. I used to cruise Carnival because my ex-husband is a creature of habit and didn't want to even consider another line (though I did "trick" him into one Princess cruise several years ago. LOL). My last two cruises were on NCL, and I really enjoyed them. I'm sad to see the cutbacks on NCL, but TBH not many of them have any kind of an impact on me. I understand how they can be upsetting to those who value fireworks on a ship or lobster. But, as long as I continue enjoying my NCL cruises, I'll continue cruising with them. Three more booked. :D I'll be on the Pearl in 52 days, and I'm sure I won't be bothered by anything. :p As a chef, I never had understood the allure of the lobster on the ships. It is warm water lobster (spiny ) and really has zero flavor, especially when cooked (overcooked) at the Japanese tables where all you taste is the sauce on it. A whole Maine cold water lobster is a whole different story Well, I'm certainly no chef, but I totally agree with this! I never ever order lobster on a cruise--it has no taste. But, put me in Portland, Maine and I can't imagine ordering anything but lobster if I'm having a nice dinner!
deliver42 Posted August 4, 2016 #87 Share Posted August 4, 2016 I'm booked on the Getaway for 12/17, and have been excited about it, but have seen so many negatives on this and other forums that I did a mock booking on the Harmony of the Seas today with their 30% off and my C&A discount. This is what I found: On Royal, the price of the cruise would be $2455.00 plus $840.00 for the premium drink Pkg. This doesn't include specialty dining, insurance, or prepaid grats. This for an outside balcony. My NCL cruise in a JS, and everything totals out to $3097.70. I think I have a pretty good deal with NCL. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. The Harmony would've been the only other ship I'd be interested in.

CP Tech Posted August 5, 2016 #92 Share Posted August 5, 2016 I think that the Universal Studios characters (whatever falls under that umbrella) should start their own cruise line. A Marvel Comics ship Can't happen. Universal only owns the rights to Marvel for use in theme parks under an existing deal. Disney owns everything Marvel now.
