TakesNotes Posted August 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2016 I'm working on a booking for one of the single "OO" cabins on the Koningsdam April repositioning. Casual shopping has revealed them in the inventory. Today, I spoke with a big box travel agent because the cabins did not appear on their website. She called HAL Seatle and was told that these cabins have been removed from availability by the Ship Inventory Department. He speculated that they are held back until the last minute. Any evidence of this or was this just a less informed agent and a less informed HAL weekend guy?
catl331 Posted August 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) I just randomly chose a sail date of Dec 10, 2017 and found four OO available. Maybe the weekend HAL guy thought they were the bottom-rung of a category like VH that are held back until after final payment day to be sold as guarantees. Suggest you call again Monday! :) Edited August 6, 2016 by catl331
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2016 I have to agree -- call again on Monday. Or -- get a TA and have them call HAL.
take us away Posted August 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Have to say, have had much better luck with accurate answers when I sent an email (under Contact Us). Think they forward the incoming email to who will know best rather than a miscellaneous person answering the phone.
Sherrie74 Posted August 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2016 So now curious ... is there anything wrong with these cabins for any reason.
Karennella Posted August 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2016 Our dining room steward told us that they had some of the crew accommodated in staterooms on the Koningsdam on our Christening cruise. But on the next Norwegian sector, they were transferred to another ship as they had been booked for guests. So maybe they hold them back for crew? Someone else wrote that they had been told that they do not have enough staff accommodation.
jtl513 Posted August 7, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) So now curious ... is there anything wrong with these cabins for any reason. They're low and far forward which some people don't like because of possible pitching. They could be noisy from the show lounge above and winches, thrusters, or anchor chains below early in the morning. The first couple on either side appear to be small.http://www.hollandamerica.com/main/DeckPlansFull.action?ship=ko&deck=m&WT.ac=pnav_Onboard_deckplan_KO&legacy=true Edited August 7, 2016 by jtl513
