mvrck1010 Posted August 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2016 We just finished our cruise from Boston to Bermuda, and overall I give it a 4 out of 5. Our group ranged from 15 to 73 years, and everyone had a fantastic time. The food was top notch, especially at Cagney's and Le Bistro. The main dining rooms had something for everyone. For a quick bite, O'Sheehans was perfect (the buffalo wings were top notch!). We did not particularly care for Los Lobos, as we found the food bland. The service was great, especially if you tip a dollar or two here and there. In Bermuda we went to Horseshoe Bay, which by far was a highlight of our trip. We also did a jet ski excursion, which was a blast! Save your 5 dollars and don't go to the snorkel park at the dockyard. It was rocky, and the beach was crowded. We had an Oceanview stateroom was was more than adequate for two adults. Our kids were a bit tight in their Oceanview (4 people), but you are only there to sleep. There was an incident at the pool which close the pool the entire time we were in Bermuda. I will spare the disgusting details as to why it was closed, but that's the reason I only gave this 4 stars. This was not NCLs fault, but it did put a damper on the trip, as we enjoy swimming after dinner/before bed. I really think they worked out all the bugs post dry dock. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!
sueajp Posted August 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2016 We are longtime cruisers and have not sized the Dawn in a long time from Boston. We are looking at a last minute option. Did you find the pool too crowded to enjoy? Hard to get a lounger? Any advice is welcome!
mvrck1010 Posted August 13, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 13, 2016 The pool is small, but we were always able to find a lounge chair. Other than the pool area, I did not find the cruise over crowded.
AnnArbor Posted August 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2016 Did you go to any shows? Was wondering, for example Band on the Run, do they do 2 shows the night they play? An early and a late one.
Barb Nahoumi Posted August 13, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2016 Thanks for your review. We always have enjoyed cruising to Bermuda on the Dawn. I was wondering if the public bathrooms were all working. Last time we were aboard, some were out of order. Was the pool functioning again once you left Bermuda? We are thinking about this cruise for next summer.
mvrck1010 Posted August 13, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted August 13, 2016 We did go to some shows. There was an American Idol type of show, a magician, Elements and Band on the Run. If you like Broadway, I'm sure you will appreciate all the shows. There was a 7 and 9 for almost all of them. The bathrooms were all functional from what I could tell. The pool was up and running a couple of hours after we left Bermuda. I would highly recommend this cruise, especially if you are within driving distance to Boston. Sand and Seas Posted August 13, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2016 Nice to hear about the OV room being nice for two people! Were the beds comfortable? We are booked on the Dawn in an OV out of NOLA next year. Can't wait to see the updates after drydock. Thanks for sharing:D
coolcruiser99 Posted August 13, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2016 Was the NCL iConcierge app available on the Dawn and did you use the on ship messaging service through it and was it reliable?
mvrck1010 Posted August 13, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted August 13, 2016 The beds were very comfortable and our cabin steward was great! We did use the iconcierge app. It seemed to work fine as long as the app was open on your phone. I tended to miss texts if it wasn't open. It was worth the 9.95. I wasn't on this cruise but I read all about the disgusting hazardous waste incident that closed the pool. It re-opened after they left Bermuda and could drain and re-fill. My friend was on this trip. Interested to talk to her. She had a great time!

SandyBShores Posted August 15, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 15, 2016 How was the service at bars?
mvrck1010 Posted August 16, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted August 16, 2016 Bar service wasn't too bad. The first day, on the pool deck, was crazy. Some slow service in the casino. But everything else was good.
