snooze, park, cruise in Orlando

Recommended Posts

We are searching for a cruise on Sept. 11, 2016, if we can find one at this late date. Our plan is to drive to Orlando and sail from there. Does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel that provides free parking for the week? We want one close to the pier. Many thanks!

If you are sailing from Port Canaveral, then the closest hotels to the pier are in the Cocoa Beach area, about 45 minutes from the Orlando airport.

These hotels are: Homewood Suites, Country Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, and Radisson.

The pier is not in Orlando. It's about an hour's drive to the east in Port Canaveral. Look for hotels in Port Canaveral, such as Country Inn and Suites or Residence Inn by Marriot. Or, hotels in Cocoa Beach, which is just short distance south of the port

I would think Lake Apopka, Butler, Big Sand, or Jessup would become quite boring over a week's time. Those would be your choices that could accommodate a cruise ship in Orlando. Otherwise a glance at a map might be in order.

I wish the cruise line would just put Port Canaveral under the cruise port search instead of Orland(port Canaveral). It creates too much confusion....now the Melbourne International has been renamed Orlando Melbourne International and Sanford is going by Orlando Sanford International. Just this week i had to pick somebody up in Melbourne because they thought they were able to get the Disney shuttle because they were flying into Orlando! Ummm....nope....not even close.

Hopefully you will park before you snooze!

I realize you're close enough to drive your own car, but you might price a pair of one way rentals. That's sometimes cheaper than parking or a sleep and park and if the car breaks down they bring you a new one.

We love the holiday inn express in cocoa beach. Free breakfast then they shuttle you to the pier around 10:30. Great place and very friendly staff.

There are a number of hotels that participate in the 40% off parking at the pier voucher:

We have done it a number of times as we have a long drive home to Virginia. Nothing beats walking off the ship and being in your car in minutes (no waiting for a shuttle).
