Three day mini get away- some thoughts

Just got back from a 3 day cruise on Enchantment. The ship is definitely in need of a refurbish, but it was very clean and tidy everywhere. Staff everywhere were very friendly.

We never ate in the dining room, but we did have dining room service in our cabin one night and it was great. We did eat at Chops two nights and we found the food not to be as good as I remember in previous cruises. There was a definite lack of wait staff. On one of the nights, our sides were not even warm when served. The waitress did replace them no problem at all.

We also found that getting a drink anywhere on the ship was a challenge. The lines at the bars were always 4 deep , even in the casino bar. Never saw one wait staff by the pool taking drink orders. Previous cruises they were everywhere. Not sure what is up with that. You would think on a " 3 day get away cruise" they would be pushing the drinks big time.

We got a great deal on an owners suite and our attendant was awesome. We had cabin 8022 , and I would not recommend this cabin to anyone as it is below the windjammer, and the noise from the carts rolling on the floor above us began at 0430 and didn't stop all day. Came home pretty exhausted from this cruise !

Don't get me wrong, any cruise is a good cruise, but I just found some of the "normal " service you expect from RCI lacking on this trip.

Curious if RCI have cut back on wait staff fleet wide?

I feel like the drink packages have changed things, and some ships have let the bar service slide somewhat.

My husband said the same thing. He feels maybe the packages are making them more money and by decreasing wait staff, it's a double win for them.

Well they're certainly not going to be pushing drinks big time anymore. Once people pay for the package, they've already got the money. At that point, the more people drink the more it costs the cruise line.

In regards to waiters roving around to take drink orders, I found Oasis to be the same way. The lack of service was unfortunate. However, at least on Oasis, the bars are always empty, since they have so many, so getting a drink was always easy.
