Haven- more questions

Hi all,

Sorry for more haven questions.

I read on the boards the butler will provide movies to watch. Do you know what type of selection they have? Are they newer releases? My hubby and I like to watch a movie or two when we relax and want to figure out if we should download some before we are sailing.

If I booked a time for one of the shows, but want to change the day and time will the concierge help with this? I know it's encouraged to book in advance but will concierge have some pull to do this? do they give priority to haven customers?

If we wanted to have breakfast or dinner on our balcony, are there any extra cost or upcharges? Do you tip the butler as you go along or just one big tip towards the end?

Thank you!!!

Not sure what ship you're on but I'll try.

In the Haven, the TV's are programmed with newer movies. You just select what you want to watch and watch it. Booking a show is a good option. That said, the concierge can help you with just about everything. The Haven has special seating in the theater and seats generally aren't an issue. As for in room dining, there's never a charge. You can eat every meal in your cabin if you so choose. The only charge, would be any specialty dining you chose. You'd be responsible for the cost, unless you have the UDP. As for tipping, we tipped at the end of our cruise.

You get everything with the haven. The pay movies are free in the haven. You also get a DVD player to use. You can eat any meal you want in the haven. The butler will bring you your meals. The butler also brings you snacks everyday around 4pm. If you want something special, just ask the butler and they will bring you your snacks and the extra snack you want. Your going to love the haven. The concierge will help you with any shows or dinner reservations you want.

I believe you may find the balcony won't work for a "meal" there. Nice to sit out and snack though. :)

Agreed. Unless you have a large balcony, the chance you'd want to eat out there is probably smaller than the balcony itself. That said, you will have a table in your cabin, usually located near the balcony. It's perfect for a meal!

The DVD library the butler provides tends to be older movies and some people check out most of them on the first day and don't return them until the end of the cruise. Personally, we buy our own DVD's and bring them instead so we can watch whatever we want to watch.

No more DVD libraries on the newer ships. Now suites get to choose from the pay-per-view movies (well...all except for those kind :o) for free.

Hi all,

When on Breakaway I pre-booked one show and one Restaurant time and had to have Anoop the concierge change both. He is great. Staying the in Haven you really have to pre-book nothing.

I also enjoyed the free pay per view movies. Lots of current showings to chose from. never even looked at the DVD choices because the movies were enough.

Have a great time. We sure did!!

Last trip on Gem no more dvds but all suites get the ppv movies for free!! Easier than bringing our own.

Haha, point taken, guess we will eat inside our room NEXT to the balcony [emoji38][emoji38]

We had planned to have dinner on the balcony on our Dawn cruise but weather was too windy... so the butler served us in the suite and it was still quite a decadent experience! Served course by course, white tablecloth, the works!! Enjoy :)

in the spa rooms ive seen the tables on youtube and they do look very very tiny. i'm definitely trying at least a breakfast though. and that tiny balcony stinks but just having anything out there seems like it would be good.

i have read one comment on this forum that sometimes even haven cannot get in places. like teppanyaki. so if you reallllllly want something, book it.

i needed to change a dinner reservation and emailed the concierge desk and had it done within 30 minutes

When we had breakfast in our Haven spa suite we brought in the table from the balcony to add space.

since you are talking about booking shows, I assume you are on one of the mega ships. They all have movies on demand in your cabin and it will be free. Not a great selection, but you no longer need to check out DVDs.

the concierge staff will help you with all of your show and dinner reservations. If a restaurant is totally sold out, the concierge can't get you in. Broadway shows in the main theater have reserved havens seating. We never use them,,, but they are there. For dinner shows, the concierge will escort you you in before general seating starts.

If we wanted to have breakfast or dinner on our balcony, are there any extra cost or upcharges? Do you tip the butler as you go along or just one big tip towards the end?

room service is free. If you order form a specialty Restaurat, you pay for the meal at the restaurant rate. There are breakfast cards in the room. But you can request any item on the Breakfast menus from the restaurants. No real table on your balcony. The butler will set up on your dining table

Thank you!!![/quote

Have a good cruise

Hmm...my understanding is the newer ships do not have did players and the pay per view movies are free and unlimited so they don't run out...?

In March 2016, Breakaway had a DVD player in the room, but nothing about a library. All the movies on pay per view were free.

I was in the haven spa suite on the Breakaway this past May and while we did have the free movies on PPV the tv was ridiculous to operate sometimes even taking over 15 minutes to get the movie. In fact the TV itself was ridiculous to maneuver constantly froze. We did complain to executives who happen to be on the ship. There was on option on the documents we had for movies for the dvd but mom didnt want to bother butler....lol and you don't annoy mom. Now you dont cruise for movies in room but mom was not well....so we relied on them for entertainment.
