Cy'all@C Posted August 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2016 It's hard to tell from the pics I've seen if the balcony partitions open up between adjoining Vista suite cabins on the Veendam. Anyone know for certain? Thanks. Trudy
jtl513 Posted August 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2016 (edited) Sorry, they don't open. See http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=510684 . Edited August 22, 2016 by jtl513
Cy'all@C Posted August 22, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 22, 2016 Sorry, they don't open. See http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=510684. Thank you for your response. Any chance they changed this since 2007 when the thread was posted? We had a balcony with friends next door but downgraded to inside due to a significant price difference. The closed partition makes our downgrade a little easier to swallow now. :D Trudy

jtl513 Posted August 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2016 Things like that aren't changed on a ship. If they can install a lot of Lanai cabins, and stern cabins on the Navigation and Verandah decks, they could certainly install some partitions that open if they wanted to! Cy'all@C Posted August 22, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted August 22, 2016 Not sure if our HAL rep knows this because she didn't mention it when we were talking about sharing the balcony space with our friends next door. I'm so glad we found out BEFORE boarding the ship and having spent twice the price for that benefit. So thankful for the CC community for the most updated cruise info around! The ship is on the block to be sold! Spending money on opening the partitions does not bring additional revenue nor does it add incentive to purchase for a new owner. The work done on the cabins does as it added an additional selling category (Lanai) and additional Vista Suite cabin space.

Spending money on opening the partitions does not bring additional revenue nor does it add incentive to purchase for a new owner. The work done on the cabins does as it added an additional selling category (Lanai) and additional Vista Suite cabin space. There are many reasons why alterations are made or not made, but that in no way changes what I said: they could alter the partitions if they wanted to. Adding the stern Vista cabins also replaced the aft pool with a "Retreat" which is IMO a dis-incentive for a potential buyer.
