Capri Tour Suggestions

No need to take a tour. It can be done on your own quite easily. There is only one road up and down!

We did this just last week and it was VERY crowded but quite fun. Take the ferry, then the Funicular (cable car) up (1.80E). You will come into the main square. Walk approx. one block and get a bus ticket (1.80E) to AnaCapri. You are now a block from the chair lift. 11E round trip, 9E one way. Quite the view on top and worth the visit!

I just spent a couple days in Capri. There are lots of tours right in the port and you can barter a bit. Pick one that goes to the Blue Grotto. We picked a local fellow with a little boat and it went right in the grotto. It was very reasonable. We went to the local stores, got some beverages and out in the boat we went. Great day!! Then you can take the Funicular up to the main streets and walk around. It is very pricey so take lots of money, lol...

Do you remember approximately what you paid to go to the Blue Grotto?

The Blue Grotto gets very crowded. If you hire another private boat (Gianni's), he will take you to other grottos, none of which you have to pay to go in. We went to the green grotto and swam in there ... no other boats and people were around.

You pay two different fees, one to get to the grotto (usually between 15 - 20 euro per person, from boat operators at Marina Grande) plus 14 euro (cash only) per person to get into the grotto. This second fee is paid near the entrance of the grotto. The rowmen will also expect tips and can get snotty if they don't get one ... I, fortunately have the ability to not hear them as I ignore their requests/begging.

The small boat went into the blue grotto itself? Did you float around the island as well? How much did it cost for two and how long were you on the boat.

Thanks for your help :-)
