Burrinda Posted August 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2016 We are flying in Thursday morning for our cruise that afternoon. Our plan is to get a taxi and stop somewhere on the way to the cruise terminal for our bottles of wine unless they are available at the airport. Does anyone know? Galveston Cruiser Posted August 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2016 There is no place at the Airport to purchase wine. On Galveston Island there several liquor stores including Spec's, Walgreens, CVS, Randalls, Kroger, Walmart to name a few.
Kev_99 Posted August 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) You didn't say which airport you're flying into. If it's IAH you can have the taxi stop at the Houston downtown "Spec's Wine, Spirits, and Finer Foods", you will literally pass within blocks of it going to Galveston. If you fly into Hobby, Spec's (downtown Houston) is 11 miles in the opposite direction from Galveston. It's the largest liquor store in Texas, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better selection of wines in the Houston/Galveston area and they are very competitive on price. Otherwise the stores mentioned by Galveston Cruiser will fit the bill nicely. robin13 Posted August 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2016 You also might want to mention that if you are talking about flying into Texas for your cruise that the wine/liquor stores are closed on Sunday. However, you can buy wine after 12pm on Sunday at the grocery store.

So this is not a concern.

A taxi from IAH to Galveston will be expensive.
George C Posted August 30, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2016 I prefer Kroger supermarket over Spec's for the wines I like they are cheaper and they have a nice selection
