DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted August 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2016 This is an embarrassing question, but I need to use a restroom frequently. There are several tour that I can not take because of this. I wanted to know if there is a restroom on the Whitepass train ride and on the addition motorcoach back. I know that my husband wants to do the helicopter ride in Juneau, but there is no way I can go that long. I am encouraging him to go without me. eandj Posted August 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Yes bathrooms are on the train. We were on a private small bus on the way down. No bathroom in our case.
KruzPrincess Posted August 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Yes, the train has rest rooms. If I recall correctly, I took the excursion where the train goes up and comes back down, so there was no need for a bus ride.
DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted August 29, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Thank you both for responding. People don't realize how very confining this problem can be.

DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted August 29, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted August 29, 2016 And....Each car has its own bathroom. Good to know. Thank you. So far this is the only excursion I've found that I could do.
Sacto Rick Posted August 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Good to know. Thank you. So far this is the only excursion I've found that I could do. Well fortunately for you, this is a good excursion to go on too! You will enjoy it.
xlxo Posted August 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2016 If you are between the cars... the tunnels are conveniently dark.
Putterdude Posted August 29, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 29, 2016 There is a restroom in each car and a trick of BQ's is to sit opposite it and not only do you have ready access to the facility, you don't have to change places with anyone when coming down the mountain. eandj Posted August 29, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 29, 2016 I wouldn't choose to sit too close to the bathroom. Ours was stinky. Each time someone went in and out, the odor made it halfway down the car. :o
xlxo Posted August 29, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2016 For the summit return trips.... some recommend sitting across the bathroom so they don't need to swap seats. Pay attention to which side.... I guess some get stuck between the cliff face and porcelain goddess for the entire return trip!
eandj Posted August 29, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 29, 2016 We were totally happy with the train up and the small bus down. We booked privately, not with the ship. Different views using the highway back down. Worth it for sure especially with a nice driver/guide offering lots of info. We used Chilkoot Charters and Tours. alwaysfrantic Posted August 29, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Its a great question, OP and I too worry about available facilities. Is the helicopter too long in the air? Would there be one wherever the helicopter leaves and returns to? I am thinking about the river tours. I assume facilities are available where we would suit up at Denali. The wilderness tour into the park....there are facilities somewhere, right? Not 7.5 hours with none?

We didn't do the helicopter but on any tour we took, there were facilities available either on the boat , train, bus or at stops. I wouldn't worry. For bus trips into denali, the shuttle and tour buses stop at the same rest areas . The stops are about every 90 minutes and there are restrooms available. They arent flush toilets but they're 100 times better than a pit toilet or honeybucket. There are photos of the rest area/restroom in a 2015 trip report by jmele999. I've been to a few flightseeing vendors....there were restroom facilities at each of their offices. (employees have needs too!)Just call your vendor to be sure.
